I highly doubt we'll ever get all disgaea classes in a single main game.
And yeah, getting D3 and DD2 on Steam hopefully happens soon.
Also I'd love to play DD2 again legitimately.
After did some counting number of human classes and monster classes. Total is.............. 98 genetic playable character classes. 48 humanoid classes and 50 monster classes.
Unless you really want list of every class there is...... I find a link right here.
https://disgaea.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_All_Disgaea_Main_Games_Classes
Hmmm.... Weird..... I wonder why this website didn't include Prism Rangers classes and Asagi clone classes. Maybe they don't count those and they see it as a story character instead.
imo maijin should make a return but as like a unique. like the dude is obviously a maijin, has a maijin-type evility, and is wearing the samurai maijin armor with the goku hair. the maijin class could just be carnage evility or something, to teach the others.
maijin as a class, ends up 10 maijin squad.
Eh just make the "Clone Classes" alternate costumes then
Point being; I want sprites back. And for the classic Disgaea trio not to be reduced to DLC. Also for characters more likable than Sir Edgelord and Who*e from 5, never played 6 but every other title had characters who were likable in some way with good VAs in at least ONE of the available languages.
Differing skins for 'clone classes' sounds interesting as well. Want to like the Humanoid roster, but it's a bit harder when out of 27 classes, 10 are male/female copies (admittedly reduced to 7 since both sexes were always available for Fighters, Mages and, with a few execptions, Brawlers. 6 if we include ninjas. Also, I would not complain about the female Gunner being the default moving forward.) We had several more unique Humanoid classes in the past, like the Monster Tamer, Geomancer and even the 'Masked Hero' (though I'm biased towards the battlesuit because I like battlesuits) and we might have had space for a few more Monster classes like Holy Dragons, Reapers, Pumpkins and Marrionettes.
Apologies for the unfocused diatribe.
I'm happy to see them pick new leads with most games; too many worlds of fiction stick too long with the same characters and it gets dull, same as always having them facing threats that would end the universe. I think it's even fine to retire characters from earlier games (we don't need Laharl, Etna, and Flonne in every game).
Them going entirely back to sprites would be welcome; I agree with you entirely on that.
I think the game needed more monster units. I'm largely okay with the roster of generic humans. But I think they could've thrown a few more of those in.
