Innocents are useless this time--only limited to stat increases, up to 50,000 each like usual. All the good stuff like critical, ailment infliction and defense, exp/HL/mana/class proficiency/skill proficiency/weapon mastery/element res/etc. are stuck in a gacha-like system of item-locked traits, called Item Reincarnation. It's pretty trash imo. It's like the unique innocents locked to items in D5 you randomly get by killing item gods...they took that and doubled down, hard. They don't get memorized on the item that earned it, and whether the item can upgrade, downgrade (!) or stay the same is random. You get 3 choices in the outcome, and you can exchange item points for the ability to change back to the original item.
Generally a much better game than 6, but the story is pretty junk (if you care about that), and gameplay is worse that 5.

At chapter 3 I got an android level 200 rank 4 and can now just clear levels easily, so instead of doing the boring story mission I can just enjoy the story (which is garbage) and since you need to complete the chapter in order to unlock more stuff along more cheat shop stuff......... gotta go fast.
technicaly you could reach level 200 in chapter 2 but in chapter 3 you'll be able to fight stronger ennemies and collect higher items, even if by then you'll advance pretty far in the gacha.
