Haven't seen that problem before. Is it crashing when you hit play on Steam or when you hit Run Game on the AoD menu?

I have this problem too, it crashes after I hit Run game in AoD launcher.

1. Press Play on your "Angel of Darkness" page
2. Click Settings
3. Click the next tab over from General (the second tab from the left--it should be your video card)
4. Check the Box titled VMR9 in the Options box on the right right side

That should fix it.

However, the problem I'm having is that once I get the game up and running, I can't see anything on the main menu. I have blindly pressed Enter and it went straight to the game, but other I have issues similar to that thereafter. I can't pause without going black, and I can't save the game.

Its weird. I never ran into any crashes with the TR games from the pack no matter what settings I threw at it.

Thankyou SO MUCH regilas!
I bought this game about 4 months ago and I was a bit unhappy but I just assumed that this game just didn't work with Windows 8. Just 10 minutes ago, I realized it was on sale, so lots of people would buy it, so I googled it, and I just saw on this post that someone had the same problem as me.
When I click "RUN GAME", it just comes up an error. I followed your simple fix and I was blown away when it worked. I can play the game that I loved on PS2 as a child again!!! I can't thank you enough C:

What worked for me: open up the settings page again, and in the General tab, under Frame Rate Compensation, check Active, and select Fast in the dropdown menu.
