Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000)

Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000)

FMV's are missing
I thought it was unusual for such a small download of 262 mb. The cd-rom size of TRC is over 600mb. Right when you start a new game, A FMV is suppose to play. Instead, it starts right into the first lvl. Dissapointing that not everything is in the game.

(Late edit: Eidos and Steam resolved the no FMV files.

Thank you very much Marcelo. Everyone! To get the cutscenes, simply download the 'movie' folder from the link provided. Then go to Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/tomb raider chronicles/ and extract the 'movie' folder to that location. That's all, you'll be enjoying thoses cut-scenes in no time :D

IDK it seems shady

The FMVs are all freely available individually on the official web site. Also there's no executable files if you are worried about viruses/trojans.

I see your point, and it's obviously your choice whether to download them or not. The files containted in the folder are 'bik' files. These are a special format of movie file designed for games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bink_Video for more info). Just to make sure, feel free to scan it with anti-virus software of your choice. I would hate for someone to play a TR game without the cut-scenes and story!

They are just movie files. Even if they were virus-loaded malware trojan exes of death, deleting them wouldn't make everything go back to normal. Something else was responsible for that and you're wrongly blaming the movie files.

Again I'm just being honest and even if there was no virus it did not work anyway i could not even play the game so.I mean how else can you put it? the game worked i downloaded the file the game stopped working i deleted it the game worked again it's pretty cut and dry mate. The fact that your sitting here and defending to the death a smaller then normal tomb raider movie file is kinda weird.

You didn't just say it stopped your game working, you said it "glitched your pc".

I'm not "defending to the death" the file. I'm just saying it didn't mess up your pc. It's possible the game stopped working when you put the files in though. Maybe your download broke off part way so the movie files were incomplete so the game crashed when reading them or something.

So your pretty much calling me a lair lol anyway i think i have been a pc user long enough to know when and why my pc is at fault.I'm not gonna sit here and argue i tried your file it did not work.

Again, you are going over the top. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm saying you're probably mistaken. There's a HUGE difference. Also look at who you are talking to. It's not my file.

lol file did not work game crash to desktop pc glitchy delete file game starts plays pc working properly end of story
You think what you like then. I'd like to hear your explanation of how a collection of movie files can mess your pc up. And the files aren't in a "special format", they are just the files off the disc. If they were in a different format the game wouldn't read them.

Anyway to anyone else reading this circus of a discussion, if you want to listen to this joker then try out the files. For the umtence time i tried them I'm running windows 7 64bit the files made the game crash and not run, thats not just 1 attempt after a steam restart, file verifaction, and several attempts the game would CTD every single time. It would not read a single FMV from the file it could not even make it to the start menu it simply CTD.Just be careful posting your experience here as we have seen you are most likely mistaken =)
LOL...u callin me a liar... I aint callin u a truther! LOL

Now this will sound arrogant: I am a programmer with many years experience, and unless you are also a programmer or have been far more than "a pc user" for many years, I think that I have far more knowledge and experience to backup and justify what I am talking about. The movie files were NOT the cause of your PC going "glitchy". The cause of the glitches would have been TR5 attempting to read the movie files, crashing, not cleaning up resources properly and thus leaving memory leaks in the currently executing program. This would most likely have been caused by incorrect permissions (i.e. TR5 tries to read files from program files directory, windows says 'no way'). The fix for this would be to run Steam and or TR5 as an administrator. If this still fails to work then it is probably an issue with your graphics card attempting to change resolution for the movie files (I have no evidence for this, just a guess); they are really old, and as such, terrible resolution. These are my suggestions, and I'm just showing you how the files were not the direct cause of the problem, but were more a catalyst.
