Does this include the NSWF CGs?

The original game released over a decade ago for PC had NSFW scenes. When the game was localized and ported to switch, all of that was removed as well as a lot of dialog being censored. Does anyone know of a way to play the original game?

Nope - The developers decided we are not mature enough to watch that stuff, so they ripped out anything that could be offensive to anyone slightly immature. As a result the whole experience (what adult content concerns) is reduced to "rainbows and unicorns, my little pony" stuff.

I was interested, but I detest these kind of practices, so no buy for me. There is not even a 18+ patch, so you only get a "safe" version that can't hurt your fragile feelings. They lost a costumer by forcing their morality on me.

Lol, same case on The Crimson Flower that Divides: Lunar Coupling. I wouldn't get that either due to the adult scenes being rewritten instead.

It's a shame to hear there's no patch available. I finished all the routes on the Switch but it made me upset when I noticed how censored it was - especially when reviewers like OtomeKitten go on about how great the art was. There's a lost opportunity here - I would have absolutely re-bought this on Steam if they'd have given us a patch.

Funny how so much porn on Steam already geared towards guys are extremely NSFW images and animations... but something geared towards women is completely void of it once it's made....really....

I feel this way strongly. But I think it is less a gender thing and more of a Japanese console thing. a few of these nsfw otomes were ported to switch to receive a wider audience, and there's NO nsfw content allowed there, even for men

This is very true. .. but they could also still port things like some have done while still allowing for a full game and not remove anything too if it were say the original game files or something to that. I'm just.. bah. It's just so strange. Even those that are for men still can get away with a lot and get 'very' close .. gaaah. It bothers me!

I ended up just playing through the game and looking at the CGs online on certain nsfw gallery sites. It's not quite the same but what can you do. If you want an awesome nsfw game tailored toward the female gaze I recommend Lykt

I admit i got this on the switch, but how i agree with you. The fact that they finally are starting to give out some eroge otomes in english, but only to cut out that content which is probably why most bought it to begin with is so insulting.
And seriously the only eroge for women so far are ♥♥♥♥ Me Royally & Little Miss Lonesome which are both gag games is just frustrating to the core.

If they did it to some other VN that are geared towards men trust me we would hear a riot.

Maybe they were concerned that if it were 18+, they wouldn't make enough money to be worth the translation/localization effort. Otome in general is still fairly niche, so I guess there isn't a large enough market for eroge otome yet.

It's still incredibly insulting, but profits rule all business decisions.

Oh man, what a shame. That's exactly what I wanted to ask. I know there was an English mobile port at some point, though I forgot if that one was uncensored. I'm also pretty sure it was localized by a different company than the one that made the Switch/PC port.

I refuse to play this game censored, AFAIK the R18 scenes are important to the plot/characters and that's what gave it its reputation in the first place. Time to learn Japanese, I guess...

Oh and the UI looks horrible... Really? Mobile presentation (as one reviewer put it)? I've seen screenshots of the original game, even the text box looked gorgeous. I'm tired of some many PC otome games looking like (and often being) low effort mobile ports.

You know what, I don't care anymore, I'm buying this game. I just read OtomeKitten's review and some other opinions and, from the looks of it, there *is* mature content in this release, and all the essential plot details are still there, though it never gets explicit and of course, the CGs are gone. Since I haven't played it, I' can't be sure, but it seems to me that only the explicit sex scenes were removed or heavily edited. There are also a couple of endings that were changed because they were explicit. That means it's got a "ESRB M / PEGI 16 / USK 16 / CERO D" rating according to the store page description.
Luckily, I found someone online who translated all the original removed scenes! I can just watch that if I feel like it after finishing the censored version.

Sometimes even with the "hentai" tag (the fact that it's even a tag) blacklisted from my store searches they manage to pop up when I'm just browsing for visual novels, or really any kind of game because I haven't blacklisted tags used by non-porn games, such as "nudity". There are tons of nukige* like that on Steam with very explicit screenshots in their store page, I don't know if there's a single otome game that's allowed to have that sort of content here. Other than the aforementioned gag games, perhaps
I just wish a western eroge publisher such as JAST or MG had localized ChouDoku instead. Then we wouldn't have to deal with this. Many otome fans that had been waiting for an English version were disappointed that it was going to be censored... But I think it was already obvious this would happen when the game was announced for the Switch in Japanese. They always localize the non-explicit edition.

Apparently, the main reason that they're releasing 17+ console ports on Steam is because the publishers who handle those releases have the rights to the censored console releases. If we want an 18+ version on PC somebody else would have to get the rights from Aromarie, the original devs. But it looks like that company has been dormant for a while so there's not much that can be done.
