Windows 10 FIX!!!

I can't remember where I found this online but someone discovered that if you copy the d3d8.dll from the reshade website to the games root directory it corrects the weird "teleport" glitch when pressing the attack button, switching between realms works, didn't experience any crashing. Replacing the d3d8.dll in the widescreen patch with reshades works great. The DLL I am referring to is the one you get by clicking on the "d3d8to9" link at the top of the main page. ALSO, make sure your game is installed on the C drive to prevent freezing issues. I now have mine working with proper 21:9 with no stretching (hud still stretched).

In your sr2.ini file, the last line should say "windescreen = 1" (or 2). Beyond that I'm not sure why it isn't working for you. FYI - the patch does not effect the 2D health swirl on the hud so that will always be stretched when not in 4:3 format. All the other 3D stuff should be round if its suppose to be round. Possibly your antivirus is blocking the patch? Even though I know how to do this stuff I am not good at helping others troubleshoot. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

There's no AV running at all. The widescreen patch works (as shown in the screenshot) but after adding the d3d8to9 dll it breaks the widescreen patch (as shown with the other screenshot).

At this point imma ask if you can upload the files from your sr2 directory (excluding the data files) so I can just use your .exe and .dlls and what not. Cuz this is driving me mad!

Literally right before you posted this I figured out I could use the DInput.dll from the widescreen patch and now have it all working EXCEPT NOW MY CONTROLLER DOESNT WORK cuz I had a Dinput.dll in there already to make controllers work again. GAWD I'm SO TIRED I JUST CANT WIN WITH THIS GAME (ಥ﹏ಥ)

So now my predicament is:

Need widescreen patch (in form of d3d8 or dinput dll)
Need windows 10 fix (in form of d3d8 dll)
Need controller fix (in form of dinput dll)

The controller fix I'm referring to is this: https://github.com/elishacloud/dinputto8/releases/tag/v1.0.39.0

It restores analog controller support on Dinput controllers such as DualShock4.

I fix one problem then ANOTHER gets me. Everything worked fine in Windows 7. I didn't need the d3d8to9 fix. GAWWD!

I hear you there. I have a LOT of older games that I love but Windows 10 makes them a pain in the ass to get running properly if at all. One thing I have considered at times is running a virtual windows 7 or previous to play my older games. Fortunately for some of the ones that are a regular replay for me, for example, Silent Hill 2, modders have created fixes and even updates for some of these older games. I always start with www.pcgamingwiki.com when I'm looking for a way to play on windows 10 and then further internet searches if necessary.

I figured out the ULTIMATE FIX YES YES YES!

1. Download the Widescreen patch and apply it like usual
2. Rename "d3d8.dll" to "d3d8.asi"
3. Download Ultimate ASI Loader 32-bit version (https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader)
4. Copy the Ultimate ASI Loader "dinput8.dll" into the SR2 folder
5. Rename "binkw32.dll" to "binkw32.asi"
5. Rename that "dinput8.dll" into "binkw32.dll"
6. Install the https://github.com/elishacloud/dinputto8/releases/tag/v1.0.39.0 for the controller fix
7. Enable Creative ALchemy (or non-Creative equivalent dsound.dll mod)
8. Install d3d8to9

The game is now perfect in Windows 10! *chef kiss*
-no more v-sync/glitchy Windows 10 issues
-fully restored DirectSound3D
-fully restored analog controller support
-Proper Widescreen aspect ratio
-w000t!

Hello, how to fix game hanging at some point while playing?
This happen after bigger monsters appear at the second part of the game, if I m not wrong.
Should i do the upper 8 steps posted by @life is dank?

As long as you followed everything through correctly make sure you don't play at a resolution beyond 1920x1080. the game crashes on higher resolutions randomly.

I did not experience any crashes playing at 2560x1440 with the fixes I personally recommended. However I only used mouse and keyboard. I would say, if you intend to play as I did, try my simpler solution. If you prefer to use a controller try @life is dank's solution.

Lock your fps to 60

i just downloaded the game two days ago and it wont even load up, my screen flickers and just closes game any help would be greatly appreciated. yes my system is up to date.
