Windows 10 FIX!!!
I can't remember where I found this online but someone discovered that if you copy the d3d8.dll from the reshade website to the games root directory it corrects the weird "teleport" glitch when pressing the attack button, switching between realms works, didn't experience any crashing. Replacing the d3d8.dll in the widescreen patch with reshades works great. The DLL I am referring to is the one you get by clicking on the "d3d8to9" link at the top of the main page. ALSO, make sure your game is installed on the C drive to prevent freezing issues. I now have mine working with proper 21:9 with no stretching (hud still stretched).

I used the widescreen patch from here: http://ps2wide.net/pc.html#sr2
Then I over wrote the d3d8.dll with the one I previously linked in this thread.

Ooh thanks for this! I'll give it a try! Having Raziel teleport is getting annoying. Sometimes he won't eat souls too 😓

I didn't need any wide-screen mods

Testing this now, combined with the wrapper fix to even run the game in the first place

How are you getting the widescreen patch to still work??? I replaced the widescreen patch's dll with the reshade dll and the screen distorts just like if the widescreen patch weren't there.

Oh, wow, this thread is still helping folks.

@life is dank - It's been a while since I've played this. The d3d8.dll has had some updates but that shouldn't break the widescreen patch. If I remember correctly you have to set your resolution in the included ".ini" file.

It is set in the ini. The graphics are stretched like it is still a 4:3 ratio.

I can't believe it is THIS HARD to get v-sync in SR2 on Windows 10. Forcing it in the NV control panel doesn't work either. Without v-sync the game runs at like 600 fps!

Unfortunately I don't have the game installed right now so I can't go and look at my configuration. If you ran the ".bat" file to patch the exe and set your resolution in the ".ini" you should be good to go. I feel like there was a widescreen option in the menu but I might be thinking of one of the other Legacy of Kain games. The game can only go up to 16:9 format unless there is a new patch out there that I haven't seen to allow for ultrawide and beyond. FYI - you can also go to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Legacy_of_Kain:_Soul_Reaver_2#Widescreen_resolution if you need more help tweaking this game.

PS - I never had a vsync issue with this game, but I use gsync and lock my frame rate.

About the FPS cap: why don't you use MSI Afterburner to cap your desktop at max X FPS?
I have no idea why most of old school gamers don't know about this feature, because its simple so good and solve some of our problems. It should be very know by now.
Other old games need this as well as your video card would explode if you don't cap it.

Sadly, I got no awnser for the screen problem.

I got the game, saw the problem, got deeply frustated and then I never tried to solve it, I'm just too lazy for that, I keep saying one of this days I would make it.

I'll try it out. If it works then I won't need the d3d8to9 file and the widescreen patch will work as intended. Wish me luck!

@life is dank - I just reinstalled the game because I was curious if something changed. And it has. The latest version of d3d8to9 does in fact break the widescreen patch - I reverted back to v1.9.1 as I previously mentioned in this thread and the widescreen works as intended. I don't know when in broke after that version so just stick with the one I mentioned.

To refresh the widescreen and glitch fix:

installed widescreen patch from here: http://ps2wide.net/pc.html#sr2

EDIT: don't forget to run upx.bat (this enables the fix)

download version 1.9.1 of d3d8to9 (d3d8.dll) from here: https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases and overwrite the existing d3d8.dll (the d3d8.dll should be in the main folder with sr2.exe)

Edit the resolution settings in sr2.ini to your widescreen resolution - 16:9 ONLY - wider resolutions result in zooming.

This should also result in the game locking to your max refresh rate (at least it does on mine)

I did exactly what you said:

-install widescreen patch
-set my resolution in the sr2.ini to a 16:9 resolution (1920x1080)
-run the .bat file
-download 1.9.1 of the d3d8 dll
-overwrite the d3d8 dll in the soul reaver 2 folder

The game still stretched like it is still in 4:3 ratio. Here's a screenshot.
