Game Pad Capability
A own two game pads
one is a "Logitech F310 Gaming Pad" and it works for this game partly,
and what I mean by that
The 2nd thumbstick doesn't work but eveything else does.

My 2nd game pad is a "Xbox one & Windows 10 PowerA wired controller manette avec fil"
and it doesn't work at all, the game won't even change to gamepad option.

Was wonder is there a patch or a free gamepad configuration program
that would let me play this game with the Xbox one pad?

The game only supports DirectInput, an older form of input API used in many PC games before the Xbox 360 Controller debut. A bit before the controller debut, Microsoft released an update for Windows XP which was the X-Input 2 API. From then on most devs made their games work with the newer API.

Your Logitech F310 works with both input API's. On the top or back of the controller is a switch with two options: "D" for DirectInput, and "X" for X-Input. Switch it to "D" for Soul Reaver 2 (and all the Legacy of Kain games for that matter). I have this controller so I can confirm it works.

If you enable the Steam controller support options in Big Picture Mode - ie: Xbox Controller Support, PS4 Controller Support, Generic Controller Support - you can make some configurations to operate this game like it had Full Controller Support. You can also download profiles premade that other people did to avoid the hassle. I have made such profiles for Soul Reaver 2 & Blood Omen 2, but only for the PS4 controller so far. I will eventually get to making Xbox controllers and other brand controllers a working profile soon.

So I need to buy Steam controller app to play this game?

No. You can use your Logitech F310 in DirectInput mode and play the game fine without any extra software. As is, you will also need to use the keyboard for menus in game.

Using the built-in Steam controller support provides an easy and integrated way to map keyboard controls to your controller without installing any 3rd party programs. It even works better than the mapping software that came with your controller on the mini CD-ROM disc.

It is also free, and you already have it. Just enable it under Big Picture Mode. You can configure your controller on a per-game basis that will save and apply the mappings to specific games automatically. You can even make changes to the mapping while playing the game via the Steam overlay.

Below is an example (screenshot) of my configuration for Soul Reaver 2 for my PlayStation 4 controller. And yes, it does show pictures of your controller. It is pretty cool feature that makes programs like Pinnacle, Xpadder, JoyToKey, and other programs obsolete.

The Logitech pad didn't have a mini cd
it installs the program when I plug it in

What is free? I don't have Steam controller.

Never mind I found out how to use it but do you need to be in picture mode
all the time tho?

The controller should of came with the mini CD-ROM. If it didn't I suggest you download and install the drivers from Logitech. While the controller is plug-n-play, there are specific drivers that may prevent issues in the future.

Download the drivers from here: http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/gamepad-f310/downloads#

Unplug the controller BEFORE installing the drivers. When the driver installation wizard asks for the controller to be plugged in to complete installation make sure the controller is set to "D" (DirectInput).

After installing the drivers you can disable or uninstall the Logitech Profiler application since the Steam controller settings are not only better, the Logitech program does not support X-Input.

You only need to be in Big Picture Mode to configure the controller. Once finished, as long as the Steam overlay is enabled, the custom controller configurations will still work.

You will need to disable "Fullscreen Effects" in Soul Reaver 2 in order for the Steam overlay to work. To access the game's configuration tool create a shortcut to the sr2.exe with the following parameter "sr2.exe -setup".

I think the one I have didn't have the cd, becuase it was in the controller
as I plug in the pad that has a usb cable, it just auto installed the pad's driver.

disable full screen effects? I guess that is in the "options" in big picture mode?
Never mind again it was in the game setup. and it seems it's already off

The game is working for both of my game pads now but setting them up are
not so great

I used your controller config loadout for my ps4 controller, but when I go to set the gamepad configs in-game, the game does not respond to any gamepad button inputs. How did you set the in-game configs? (As in step by step)

Honestly, I also tried using a PS4 controller with this profile I believe and had nothing but headaches. Square-Enix really should patch these games if they are going to keep getting people to buy them. There is no reason it doesn't have full controller support considering they were PS1 and PS2 games to begin with.
