Verifying the cache deleted my save files

Really? REALLY? The game starts crashing, so I verify the integrity and it completely wipes my save files. Christ. Does anyone know if they're permanently gone, or if I can retrieve them somehow? This is highly annoying.

Verifying the cache should not do this - are you sure the savegame.her is not there?

Oh, the file is there. But in the game, my saves are gone. I'm guessing all the saves are kept in that one file, instead of independent files? If that's the case, suspect that it read savegame.her as damaged because it had changed from the original downloaded form, and overwrote it.

Also, when you save, you have to name the file name, not just press enter, otherwise it won´t save.

I know that, hence why I had saves to lose :) It's mostly just annoying, as I'm doing pre-Nosgoth release replays. But I've played SR1 more so than any of the other games, so I've just skipped on to SR2. I still don't know why it wasn't until I got all the way to the drowned abbey that it started crashing.

I will wait for a 60% off sale or 75% off sale on gog.com for the four titles i.e. LOK: SR 1 & 2, LOK: Defiance, LOK: Blood Omen. I recently purchased Wizardry 6-8 on steam yet couldn't get 8 to work; after purchasing the same titles on gog.com- they worked right away. If you are concerned with the game being fixed- in my experience- the most compatible versions (if available on gog.com) have always been the gog.com versions. You may also put the .exe full game install on an optical disk easily unlike some other purportedly drm free versions of various games that make it difficult to do so e.g. gamers gate et al.. By the way; remember to watch out for this on other gaming deals, the green man gaming version lacks one of the games that the steam pack does have. The steam pack lists four games the gmg pack only has 3 of the 4 games.

Same thing here bro. Before start playing I used a patch to change the language to spanish but after playing a few hours I decided to go back to english because spanish voices are really bad. So to restore to the original language I had to verify game cache but to my surprise, my savegame got lost after that. ♥♥♥♥ you steam, ♥♥♥♥ you Eidos.

Can confirm that this happens. If you're going to verify the game cache, BACK UP FIRST! Luckily I wasn't too far in when I did this to try to solve a game crash.
