Can't run game crashes on start up

Can someone please help me figure out why the game is crashing on start up? I can see it's a common problem but i don't know the first thing about fixing it, or how to get a crash log. The game starts and plays intro cards but i never get to the main menu or anything it just closes and poof gone!

This video works for me (playing with compatibility mode with XP SP3). And I'm able to play in 1080p

After getting in contact with Crystal Dynamics Support and a week of back and forth emails I finally figured out how to run the game in 10 easy steps. I wish they would of lead with compatibility, but I digress. Here it is.

So if you are running Windows 11 paste this in your search bar for the start up.

Run programs made for previous versions of Windows

then open it.
Here are the steps to getting it to run.

1. Click Next
2. Not Listed>Next
3. Browse ( C: Drive>Program Files (x86)>Steam>Steamapps>Common>Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver>Kain2 [should be file below BinkPlay]) Select file and click open then Next.
4. Troubleshoot program.
5. Select "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now. >Next
6. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or I don't know > Next
7. Click on Test the program.
8. It will open and you'll need to click allow when User Account Control window pops open.
9. Run your game, play a little and make sure it runs. Save or don't, up to you.
10. Close game out then select next, and then on the final screen select "Yes, save these settings for this program."

Now your game should run every time when opening from icon on your desktop. You will have to click allow in the User Account Control window every time you open it, but the game will run every time.
