Get a live.
Yeah, well it's my second language too, but it doesn't give me or anyone else the right to "use the word as I like". Words have definitions for a reason. You can't just point at something and call it a something even if it has nothing to do with it.
Because this is really, really amazingly stupid, that's why.
As for the racist undertones, I doubt it was anything close to racism. Mostly because Islam is not a race (despite how entitled they think they are), but also because people didn't do that kind of stuff back then in video games. It has only been since 2008 and onward that people started using religion to attack games and stiffle creativity, and consequently programmers began getting blamed for doing such things out of spite.
It may have been from sheer negligence of religion, or maybe inspiration because of the way it looks, but not racism. Back when I played this on the playstation 1 I wouldn't have even thought of that as anything other than a decorative trim, just as when they use Egyptian hieroglyphics in games, or latin phrases from the bible.
The important thing I feel we need to ask here is in what way has OP changed that he now feels it offensive that he didn't back then?
Problems with you muslim is you do not practice what you preach at all ! and you are all the sudden beilevers when it suits you ! I´m pretty sure such western evil inventions like video games about the occult would not fly well with your Imam ! get a sense of humor ffs! we who are born christians do not take offense or even bother with similar things ! and there are metalbands on national TV singing about dececrating jesus and upside down crosses everywhere ! so why should you !? critics towards a religion is a matter of freedom of speech in any democracy religion is not and ethnicity !!
Your little game of religious superiority is a fruitless endeavor. Attempts to judge other groups by comparison to your own is rendered moot unless you can acknowledge the flaws in ALL large scale cultist ideologies. Until then, you're just as petty as OP if you have to rely on christianity to prove why his opinion is wrong.
Artists have a right in every civilized country to express themselves as they like as long as they don't attack the personal life of a person (profession is more than ok, especially when it comes to politicians, presidents and prime ministers, hehe! Stupid Trump!)
Second, why is it that muslims are always on the defensive like that? It is a video game, don't you have imagination? Maybe that part of the level is part of an anti-Allah gang, or maybe it is part of Allah's great ennemy? Maybe it was just a bunch of bad guys who decided to write this upside down to insult Allah in the game world? You should chill out, it's just a video game.
You need to realize the difference between spitting on Allah/God in real life and using a blasphemous image/act in a movie, book or game about a bunch of people in the game world that spits on a religion.
It is strange that only muslim are still complaining about humouristic or story-driven art about their mythology. Those things that makes either a funny joke about Allah or the Prophet or like in Legacy of Kain where it is probably part of the story bothers muslims, but the rest of the world does not mind having jokes or stories about their own mythology. Christians don't care that people makes jokes about their Prophet and their God, the Buddhists don't care that people make jokes with or about the wiseman Buddah, Chineese don't care about twisted sayings and proverbs that Confucious said, Africans don't mind that we make fun of Ala the Mother or Olokun.
I like what Robot Chicken did with Buddah, Jesus and other holy figures, it was funny. Wish you could enjoy that with figures of your own mythology.
I would be behind you 150% if someone would desecrate a Church or Mosque or other temple/holy site IN REAL LIFE. But it is not the case here. It is a video game about hell, so maybe, just maybe you should imagine what that is, and just maybe Allah's ennemy would probably try to do all he can to ridicullize Allah in the game world... NOT the real Allah. A video game, movie, comic book and all other form of art is about imagination. If you cannot see this, than you are the only one to blame with closemindedness.
Faith is important, but it is personal. No one should force someone to believe in something like the cults, religions and sects of this world do. People should keep that to themselves and that would make the world such a better place. No more anti-semite, anti-muslims or any other extremist groups of any kind. No more discrimination due to beliefs, etc. If everyone keeps their Faith to themselves, no one will suffer. But Legacy of Kain and other art form are not real and what is not real is not blasphemous. Only bad taste things should be frowned upon, like a really bad joke about someone you know, you would protest or protect the integrity of that person you know when this happens. So if someone would say or write a serious article about any Prophet and tell bad things about him or her especially if it is not true due to ignorance and prejudices, then yes, that person would need to be denounced, but if it is a funny joke about Jesus or Mohammed, then let it be (Like you see a guy with no face and jesus. Jesus says "Ugh! What happened to your face man?!" oh! it's not my fault, my followers took my face away since they don't want anyone to know whom I am" "Oh! That sucks... how do they know it's you then?", etc.). Now I am not that good at jokes but you get the meaning. I made a joke with Jesus and Mohammed, but the joke is not about them but people who don't want to show who Mohammed was. Quite different. Anyways, all this to say that everything lies in the interpretation and never take things at the first degree. Only blind or dumb people do that.
So what I think the problem is here, is a lack of imagination and ignorance. A video game happens in a virtual world that does not exist. So if someone is having BDSM sex with any Prophet (Christian or Muslim), well, first he's not the real Prohpet, second it is not real so it is not sacriligious, third it is about a story, fourth maybe it's a story that happens in hell or a hell-like place like in Legacy of Kain, fifth it is just a story to scare and make people talk...
... and it works, look at this thread! :D
They were probably wrapping bacon around their penis' to pleasure themselves while picturing homoerotic scenes in their minds as they were adding this filth to the game.
Allahu akbar! God is great!
Except for that time he made humans.....
I mean 1.6 billion perfect muslim specimens are nice, but out of 7 billion total people, god really dropped the ball and made a terrible mistake. 23% success rate is not fitting for god....
Other than that though, he did well, allahu akbar brother!
There is literally nothing else anyone can add to this discussion that will help change the flawed reasoning of those impaired by religion or, sad as they seem, those of whom for some irrational sense of self guilt feel the need to stand up for them.
You are playing as a mutated vampire who goes on a murderous rampage in the name of vengeance. Why does no one make the connection between religion and that, hmm?
Move on. Live in the real world. Leave the fantasies in fantasy land. The argument is done. Now it's just embarrasing to read this self indulgeant showboating.
Once the rational masses stop paying attention because arguing a point with them, be it militant feminism or Islam etc, Is like trying to tell a spoiled & entitled child they can't have somthing and their opinion on it does not matter.
Once masses go quiet on it, all that's left is the cultist chants demanding a negative / pointless change .
Once it's at that stage, people who make the games, movies, tv series often just change whatever is being argued about simply to make them stfu, especially when it's somthing as inconsequential as this arab text in Soul Reaver, change it and normal people won't care or even notice.
Perhaps a little dramatic on my part ;)
Trying to make a moot point on an 18 year old game of which the demanded censorship in question never even happened.
In short, "There is literally nothing else anyone can add to this discussion" is very true, but the perpetual victims will never stop adding to it, at least in my case, replying to crap like this post is to get nothing more than a sense of petty satisfaction that I at least feel I said somthing, however pointless it is, it's probably the reason most people dig stuff like this up in my opinion.
