Where the heck am I supposed to go?

Apparently I'm one of the lucky ones, the game seems to be working pretty perfectly for me, and this is my first time playing the game. Remapped the keyboard controls for a more comfortable layout and began my journey...

Played for two hours, made no progress. Unlocked the first four warp gates (3 plus the one in the starting area), but it seems like no matter where I go from here I end up at a dead end. I tried exploring underwater in several areas, but I'm coming up empty. Nothing but walls, places too high up to jump to, and gates I can't get through.

I must have missed something, but I have no idea where.

did you try crossing the vortex whirlpool?

Yeah, but the gap on the bridge is too wide to jump/glide over isn't it?

Through Raziel's kingdom to Melchiah's. In Melchiah's there is a room with 4 pillars where the floor can drop. Go below that via an elevator and activate the switch, then the lever. This will drop the floor, Go back up the elevator and hop into the dropped section and pull out the block you can see, then turn around and look for an empty passage behind one of the insets (may only be in spectral) that will let you below that room. In there move the torches to burn the wood pillars holding up the ceiling. When it falls move the torches to the 4 closest points of the diagram. Then fight Melchiah.

If you are stuck prior to that in the room with the barred passage, go spectral and look along the walls for pillars to hop to (they come out of the wall)

Yes, it was the room with the barred passage. So I was supposed to kill myself in there? How was I supposed to figure that out...?

Raziel can´t die - you merely shift realms, that is the key mechanic of the game.

Shift realms by dying/destroying the physical body/etc. I don't really care what terms the game uses for my life bar draining to zero.

You're supposed to learn about it during the sort-of tutorial section, unless you missed that part. And you can switch to Spectral without suicidal moves. It's the very first special power you learn, and it'll be the only one you'll have in the menu for a while until you hunt down some others. Anyway, bear in mind that there are some subtle but significant differences in areas between the physical and spectral realms. Terrain features in the spectral realm can appear distorted, bent and twisted, which can allow you to reach certain locations, and time is practically standing still. (This part will be important later!)
