Do you need to play Blood Omen 1 before this?

Was thinking of getting the entire LOK collection, but the first game isn't available on the site. Do I need to have played it before the other ones?

I mean it helps, just to follow Kains journey which is the highlight of the series, but Soul Reaver is a completely different experience, they don't feel like 2 games that came from the same universe

Blood Omen 1 is abandonware on PC. It's worth playing because the later instalments deal with time travel including revisiting events from BO1.

BO1 is not abandonware. It is worth playing as you can understand Kain a lot better, but not required before playing SR1. I´ve played it as last in the series.

Better start with trash spin-off* (story not related absolutely, even MMO game Nosgoth have better and connected plot) Blood Omen 2. Than only important order is
SR1->SR2->Defiance (like trilogy). You can play BO1 first or last - no mutter.

Dont need to play BO1 before Soul Reaver's, but if you like Kain and want to know how is he became a vampire and what happened before, you should start with BO1. But Nosgoth online is fail multiplayer game that dont have any connection with BO and SR except that war btw humans and vampires
