The game doesn't start/doesn't recognize the controller.

Please make it sure that DirectPlay is enabled in the following way:
1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
2. Type "appwiz.cpl" in the input field and press Enter.
3. Click Turn Windows features on or off > Legacy Components
4. Check DirectPlay and click OK.

Cannot use the controller only when in windowed mode

The Steam client's controller driver may conflicts with the game's driver.
This can be solved in the following way:
1. In the Steam client, click Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings.
2. Uncheck "Xbox Configuration Support".

not really but you can change that with steams controller config, just find the dpad and select joystick

Cant get game to load past the Erog Japan logo.

And i'm sorry but these fix instructions make no sense.
Win Key+R brings up run command prompt. There is nothing to change in that window.

You need to open Control Panel.
search for it from the task bar search menu or locate it by going to the start menu and scrolling down to
WINDOWS SYSTEM > CONTROL PANEL
From the control panel click PROGRAMS
Then select TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON or OFF
From here you can expand the section for LEGACY COMPONENTS > DIRECT PLAY

I performed the fix as listed. games still locks on Erog Japan logo.

Hello,
Thank you for pointing out the incorrect description. It has been corrected.

You can proceed to the title screen by pressing any button on the gamepad or a specific key on the keyboard (e.g. ASWD).

I recommend downloading JoytoKey for your controllers to be recognize as a keyboard https://joytokey.net/en/

the joypad recognition is ok but it wont get the directions input, those are even greyed out in the setting options. Im using a 360 arcade stick. is there a fix for this? others button work just fine

my game is running on 10fps how can I fix it?

edit: practice and versus mode is running at 10fps for some reason
