Steam has denied my refund because I "played" for more than 2 hours when half the time I was experiencing bugs and crashing. Go figure.
Exactly. And since they still show the feature in screenshots and video it seems deceptive to not have it in the game.
uaahh .....and that's not possible at all and there, the picture is different... whining and complaining. does anyone need a tissue?
Ive played lots of early access games, but never been outright deceived by a developer to sell a feature and it not be in the game. In some places its illegal to do so, called bait and switch or false advertising.
Its like advertising that your new car has a navigation system, you show photos/video of the navigation system in advertisements, only when the buyer gets the car, the navigation system is missing. Can you understand how that is being deceptive and misleading or are you only going to hurl insults? How would you feel if you bought that car and was concerned about the missing navigation system and some random person tells you that you obviously not able to handle the navigation system. Why would you buy the car if you couldnt handle the navigation system and asked if you wanted a tissue simply because you asked about the missing navigation system. That person would seem like a colossal a$s to you Im sure.
Early Access means "in active development" - steam shows a big box on the shopping site explaining what EA means and that the game will change during development. Features can be added and removed. Also there are some Q&A in this box where the developers named the actual ingame features and there is nothing about scrap cars.
I personally prefer to watch twitch streams of the actual version to get a guess about the actual game state - and there are a lot of them.
The scrap cars got removed because the scrapyard gets totally overhauled - you can see this in the last dev streams in discord. Thats the interesting part of early access games - seeing how things change and maybe influence it at bit (but not by crying about bait , refunding and such stupid stuff).
your example fails in the part that if you buy a car - you buy a finished product.
Early Access is like a kickstarter project or like a investment - they told you what they aim for - but there is no guarantee that this goal gets reached - especially not exactly as planned. Be happy that this game is being developed. I entered several early access games that got abandoned far from the planned goal - thats the risk and steam warns you about that.
If you want exactly what is promoted - then simply stay away from early access games.
Thats because its not in the game.
