One-time-only hints?
Are there puzzles in FEZ which you are only given hints for once? Specifically, I'm thinking of the owls. I recall that they would say something and then fly away. Was that my one chance to receive their hint?

For the owls, there is a room with paintings.

Yes, Owls give a hint only once... It is only occasion so far I noticed that you cannot repeat (without starting fresh game, of course).Since I'm quite paranoid, I took screenshots of it just in case, and it paid off. If its of any help to you, here is their wisdom:

Owl #1: "The many are one. The one is many"
Owl #2: "A point of origin. Above and beyond"
Owl #3: "Hexahedron. Octahedron. Dodecahedron. Her sacred geometry"
Owl #4: "The thirteen circles. The 64-bit name of God"

Aside from what the Owls say, I don't think there are any one time only puzzles/hints (Excluding tutorial dialog).

What the owls say isn't a hint for a puzzle. It's just... there. Though some of what they say is repeated, albeit a bit differently, in the Tome.

Surprise surprise, they are related to post200% puzzles (i.e. red cubes), which should help you solve two puzzles without decoding the Tome first (at least it helped me, but I am sure there is other, more convenient way to solve those).

Little in this game is there for just no apparent reason.
