No More Money

Status of the game
The dev has made a recent post as of today on his patreon

"Hey everyone,

I've been putting off writing this post for a while, but after seeing all your messages, I felt like it was time to share what's been going on. As you know, I've always tried to be upfront with you, but given what I do for a living, I've kept my personal life separate from this space. However, to explain where I'm at now, I'm going to have to open up a bit more than usual.

When I started this page back in 2018, I was a single guy who never imagined having a serious relationship or a family. But a lot has changed since then—I started a family and now have two kids, who are honestly the light of my life. But they're also the reason I've stepped away.

For a while now, I've been struggling with a kind of depression. I couldn't look my children in the eye knowing what my games promote. I felt ashamed, even disgusted with myself. What I thought was my “dream job” had turned into something I hated. That's why I decided to quit.

In the past few months, I've been trying to pivot to making SFW games. But since I've been doing this for so long, my mind kept going back to ideas that were... well, sexual. That's what I've always been good at. I thought I could finish No More Money, start something new, and maybe ask you guys how you'd feel about removing a certain taboo element that shows up in all my games. But honestly, I can't do it anymore.

I can't continue with No More Money. It's been breaking me to keep working on it, and I just can't do it anymore. I know you guys enjoy these games, and there's nothing wrong with that, but for me, it's personal. I'm not really a writer. I draw inspiration from real people in my life. Most of the characters you love from No More Secrets and No More Money were inspired by ex-girlfriends, friends, people I know, so it's hard for me to separate those feelings when I'm writing. I didn't value family before, so making taboo games was easy before, but I can't do that anymore.

So, I need to know where you all stand. I know walking away from another game is going to hurt my reputation, and I'm ready to face the consequences of that. But if I were to start No More Homework without the “household” taboo, would you still be interested in the game? I really need to know what kind of adult visual novels you're into now and how you feel about this shift.

I've included a few possible answers. Based on your responses, I'll decide what I'll do in the future.

Thanks for understanding and I apologize for everything."

Another shady dev failing to complete their project after posting it up on steam for sale with lots of promises.

Another incomplete game from the dev. Definitely will never purchase another game from them again!
" would you still be interested in the game?"

no mate, nothing you do would interest anyone with self respect, anymore.

Have you ever thought maybe real life problems came up, so instead of saying that non sense. You have to remember they have real life situations too and real lifes that takes up there day, they are not gonna stop real life or any problems and put them aside for a game. Who knows he might come back to it in time give the guy a break
"I draw inspiration from real people in my life."
welp. Always could just hire an artists and overlook the project. If didn't wanted to be bothered by entire project.
nope, wouldn't be interested in the slightest. not because of the change in game style but because you burned us. I can respect a person changing what they want to do and deciding to move on to other things. I can't respect a person deciding to burn customers to do it. At the very least find someone else who IS interested in the product and passing it on to them.
randomly abandoning a game people love and are invested in and then expecting us to trust you to start and finish yet another game??? Hell no at this point i see your name on a project i will avoid it like the plague

You have a life to live, and you're entitled to live it. NMM was one of the sexier and better executed games I've played within this genre, so I hate to see you go. That said, couldn't you pass the game on to some other developer who might be interested in finishing it? Like many, I find it frustrating to invest time and money only to have story left unfinished. Find a way to address THAT, even if it means giving the project to someone else, and people will be more likely to look on your future endeavors with more kindness than you seem to be hearing from this crowd.

Nobody should feel parallels between real life or what fiction they produce it was well written good story a bit raunchy but there are so many that are much worse and i feel the depression is making the creator see factors that don't exist and are not transferable to real life situations i hope passed onto someone else to finish as was a really good story and wanted to see how it ended
I have to admit that I feel disappointed that I may not see this to the end...But hey, life goes on. No one can really know for sure where our lives will be in 5 years, 10 years or even tomorrow. So who are we to judge the developer for the direction his life has taken. His actions since the pause and very possible end of development of this game is kind of noble in a way. He seems genuine in his explanation and that alone earns my respect. I've seen other developers simply walk away from their projects or continue to collect money and not do anything to continue their projects or even communicate their lack of progress. When I identify those situations, my final comment before ending my support is "I don't pay for the sound of silence", So for the developer, I wish you well and may your future bring happiness and joy..

the game is back on the table, see Game update thread
It looks like it focuses only on patreon and steam players don't care, let's face it

From what I read from another forum, it says that the dev did delete some dev files of the game, and that he'll continue the game but not finish certain routes
