However this game does not really have dedicated classes, just EGO Powers and Perks. None of the Powers relate to healing directly (although Overcharge probably boosts healing). Honestly, you're best off looking at another game if you want to run healer, unless you have some friends who are also getting in game.
Reason being much of the game is semi-solo, or ad hoc grouping. Very rarely to players form groups to do anything. Its just a matter of helping those around ya.
Theres also perks that give you boosts for rezzing people...which anyone can do.
Its not like a typical mmorpg where a healer is as vital as a tank, since it doent have hard classes, stuff can be done without heals or a tank (it just can get hard to do so). However healing weapons can be a huge help, as well as a "tank" style character with his aggro pulling decoy and lots of health perks.
Healing can be really usefull in organized pvp, you just need the group to stick together for it to really work.
YES, YES, AND YES. Healers are loved in team based PvP. They are also wanted during major Arkfalls (although not needed)
If you want you can build your character around healing & resurrecting people, and giving boosts to them (and yourself). It is very possible to play this type of character, but would be overly boring. I often mix it up as the BMG makes a pretty decent secondary weapon for when you want a change of pace.
Note: You can also heal yourself with the gun, so everyone can be a "healer" if they chose to.
Having said that, you will find PvE and PvP combat incredibly difficult using only BMG's. A BMG + AR however works quite well.
Just mind you its more of a social role, youll need a good friend list, active in VOIP and in a party to be a good healer.
Most notable are the perks relating to reviving, and they are all really useful for a support role.
No you cannot be a pure healer. This game is all about shooting stuff I luv being hit with a BMG and getting my shield charged and obviously like being rezzed but no, no pure healer.
It's not like wow where the encounters are designed around heals, so you're better off going dps.
You can heal with a BMG, but its not that powerfull usefull if not getting cosntantly shot, and you can also use a lot of medic perks but these are useless in PVP as you can not revive players in pvp which is a big disapointment for me also. so in pvp as a healer i use a pump shotgun and a BMG and ill heal and kill equally.
