Glyph Launcher Error w/Steam
So after a long absence, I've decided to reinstall and try out Defiance again. After getting it all installed on steam, I tried to play it only to get the following message:

"Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Defiance\GlyphClient.exe'.
Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

I can't validate my install files, the option is greyed out in the properties menu. I've downloaded and installed Glyph, but it wants me to install Defiance again, which Steam already did. What's going on here? Is there a fix for this, or has it been so long the game isn't playable? Would reinstalling Glyph to my Defiance folder make a difference? Any help would be appreciated, I've actually been nostalgic for this game...

So I have to download Defiance 2050 to play the original Defiance? Aren't they seperate games? Sorry I'm confused...

1. No you do not have to have 2050 to play the original Defiance. What ever is wrong has nothing to do with 2050.

2. The game is playable most of the time except when the lag is bad.

This is not an issue with the game, its on your end. Your going to have to use trial and error, a clean install of the client and the game might be a good start.

This is after a clean installation that I had this error, I get it whenever I try to launch. I haven't been able to play the game at all, lag or no. I last played the game years ago on an entirely different machine, so this is a fresh install on a very good laptop.

Validation won't work for some reason. I don't think uninstalling it and attempting to redownload it all again is going to solve it. But, I'll give it a shot if there's literally no other suggestion. Was never in doubt that the issue was on my end.

To be clear, I am trying to launch this game through Steam. Do I need to download it through the Glyph launcher and launch it form there, and not use Steam?

Some one had an almost similar problem and this autorun application via Windows Support solved their issue and maybe will help you. The link is https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns ... Follow the instructions on the page and then uncheck all the items under the everything tab that is highlighted in yellow. Then restart your computer. Try running it then.

None of these "answers" address the fact that Steam isn't installing the glyph launcher at all or correctly.

That does seem to be the problem, yes. Does anyone have an answer or fix regarding that issue in particular?

I'm getting the same error

Yeah, Valve/Steam support is just throwing robo-replies that don't apply at me, then telling me to contact Trion about it... even though Steam is what's failing to install Glyph to begin with. And nothing but crickets from Trion (apparently for a very long time, looking at their forums.)

Defiance is dead and Valve/Steam/Trion apparently don't care to actually have humans fix it. I mean, you have to pay humans to do things (usually.)

Not sure why you want to bother with Steam at all to play this game. You can download glyph through their site and play the game without it.

That's what I figured since Steam won't install Glyph. Only reason I wanted to play it on Steam is because all the Tiered Reward Key DLC is linked to my Steam account, and I don't know if it will transfer over. Might not matter if my Defiance acount is already linked to Steam, but not sure. Will have to test someday when I have the time and bandwidth to redownload the game and try it.

Because I already tried that,it thought I was a new player, hence all of my characters/progress/stuff was gone.
