What's the best way to launch and play DayZ Epoch Mod?

I'm just returning after about two years absence and I can't seem to figure out how to get DayZ mod or even Epoch working again. Can anyone give me a run through? Thanks!

I had problems trying to join a DayZ Vanilla server using DayZ Launcher after update from 1.8.7 to 1.8.8. DayZ Launcher has not been updated with 1.8.8. I was getting "session lost" and "wrong version" errors and could not even join servers through the game's server list. I finally figured it out so for those who are looking to play the updated Vanilla version of DayZ:

1. Make sure your DayZ Mod is updated to 1.8.8 on Steam
2. Verify all the files of all three games in Steam properties (Arma 2, Arma 2 OA, DayZ Mod)
3. Make sure the DayZ Mod is installed in DayZ Launcher
4. Verify the DayZ Mod installation on DayZ Launcher (it will say it is 1.8.7)
5. Go to the Advanced tab in DayZ Launcher and enable DayZ (move it from the left box to the right)
6. Click Launch in the Advanced tab
7. Find a 1.8.8 server in the server list and join

BTW, there is now no need to use DayZ Launcher to join DayZ Vanilla 1.8.8 servers. Now you can just launch Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and join servers from the Address: Internet server list.

Sorry, you said you wanted to join Epoch mod servers not Vanilla. I'm dumb. DayZ Launcher is the way to go for Epoch.
