How to use dayz mod? (steam)

Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to play dayz mod or direct me to some? I am new to using the pc just this month made the switch from console and have to previous knowledge on how to install or use mods. so any and all help would be great. thanks .

Here's what you have to do, assuming you already have purchased, downloaded and installed all three games; Arma 2, Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and Arma 2 DayZ Mod (you need all three to play DayZ):

1. Validate the files of all three games: Right-click on the game in Steam, choose Properties, Click on the Local Files Tab and click Verify Integrity of the Game Cache...
2. Open up Arma 2 to the splash screen and then exit
3. Open up Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead to the splash screen and then exit
4. Open up Arma 2 DayZ Mod to the splash screen and then exit
5. Open Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead
6. Click on Multiplayer
7. At the bottom left of the screen, toggle through the Address choices until it says Address: Internet
8. If no servers are showing, click the Filter button at the bottom of the screen and change max ping to 400

If you do all of this you should get it working. Good luck!

Getting DayZ working is one of the tougher things you may ever do with your pc... Dayz Mod on steam is what I use. I don't even touch DayZ Launcher. I have no need to play other mods like epoch and such. the vanilla mod is superior in every way

I did all this but when i clicked a bunch of different servers it kicked me than said i could not play/edit etc etc

Im trying the dayz launcher now.... but from what ive read the steam dayz mod should work by itself ... but nothing yet

Don't use the DayZ Mod game on Steam to look for servers. Launch Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and look for servers.

If it works for you nothing I guess. In my experience joining servers from the Arma 2 DayZ Mod server screen doesn't work. I have always run the Arma 2 OA game and joined from there.

What do you mean by the splash screen? :) I'm a bit confused
