Ace of Spades Closure
Hello everyone,

It’s been a while since our last communication, and we wanted to update you on the status of Ace of Spades.

We know that some of you have experienced issues running the game and have been unable to play Ace of Spades in the way that it was intended. Regrettably, we’re not able to resolve the underlying technical issues and that means the time has come to wave the game off into the sunset.

Therefore, Ace of Spades will be removed from sale on Steam on 3rd of April 2018. The servers will remain live for three months following that date, but after 3rd of July 2018, it will no longer be possible to play the game.

Closing the service is not a decision we have made lightly, and we apologise to those of you who remain active members of the community. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for Ace of Spades.

Hi Balance,

While it's sad to see the game come to an end, I do have one question:-

Would it be possible to release the game, open source to the community please? Is this something you would be able to talk to Jagex about to see if it's worth the time?

Thanks

Jamie

Good idea, they make AoS open source on GitHub or they just refund our money.

that's all really sad to hear, but isn't there at least something you could do to keep this game alive? I mean, lots of people were and are enjoying this game so far, even without good updates, bug fixes and other important stuff. We love your game. And we need you to bring it back alive. Rewrite the code, add new maps, make new players become interested, you can even relaunch a whole new better version on Steam!
I bet that if that's all really is an important part of Jagex's story, then you won't just burry it down. It's always easier to say "Sorry, there's nothing we can do". But you can try and make it, it depends on you only.

Listen to your community at least today, at least one time due these 6 years. :deuce:

Well

First feeling you might have reading the post - pain. Then comes the thought that this is the fate you can expect of every familiar game. Thanks to a lot of people I played with and to those who came to the idea of original Ace of Spades game. I hope 0.75 still works and will work for much longer time than its 'developed' form.

Only thing I can't believe that you (Jagex) haven't even released the offline mode before shutting down the servers (the editor included). Why. That's not fair at all. If you give this game to people who can take the needed care of it (like 0.75) as it is suggested in a comment above, maybe a lot of us will forgive you.

Bye
Thank you all for the good old times and well spent time

Seconding the idea of going open-source, it's only fair if you guys decided to close the game entirelly. Thanks for great memories.

Really..? Hmm 0k if you dont want or care about the game anymore but why not just put it free? the game has potential, the game hasnt gone down because it was bad or anything, you guys stoped taking care so ofc its gonna get damaged someway.. but the game basis and gameplay, style, modes, its unique and you have proove that in the past it was pretty popular... why not go back to the old good days? Jagex has a bad reputation because it has abandonned Aos, but this... you guys wanna get buried dont you? tch.. You care a little and it will rise back up, but you let it die and set an end date,Jagex reputation and profile is buried for us. Why not pass the game or sell the game to another company? you gusy are throwing it to the rubbish bin either way no? Pass on the data so it can remain alive by someone else that respects it and respects us, the ace of spaces community. Ace of Spades didnt kill it self, you guys made it die.
