Gnomoria Cheating
I'm only posting here because i saw (elsewhere) how one can 'cheat' in gnomoria...

If you dont like cheating, or dont want to cheat, or want to flame for this post, stop reading here.

Else, you can find a small helpful tip:

This was done using cheat engine.
You can easily modify any gnome's skill set, by using the standard cheat engine lookup method (search value, change value, search value, etc etc). Once you found that value, manually add a new entry by address, using the same address.

Copy the Hex address from the value you successfully found/confirmed. Open up a calculator that can do hex calculations (I just use windows calculator, and put it in "programmer" mode, with 'hex' selected.

Paste the original address in. Add "14" to it (which hex 14 is decimal 20--make sure you're in hex mode when you add 14). Copy this value, and put it into the second entry in cheat engine. It SHOULD show the NEXT skill for that gnome.

I'll make a video for it soon.

Or... you could use some of the tools that people have made and posted on the Gnomoria official forums, which let you do all of this without the huge amount of hassle. :p

The forum seems to be lagging a bit at the moment, and was down for a good chunk of the morning. Gnome Extractor is the best one for editing gnome attributes and skills, but if nothing else, my Career Advisor tool also allows you to do so (though that is not the main purpose of the program).

Hmm, apparently Turkish websites are blocked. The Gnome Extractor URL ends in ". t k"

Alternatively, the author also made it available on Google Code:

yeah, i was looking, but the past 2 days, the gnomoria wiki and/or forums were down.

And i always like doin things myself before i go the easy way out :D lololol

I tried to run gnomeextractor, but it immediately crashed on my machine (win 7 64-bit)... I'll try a few diff versions tho.

ooooor someone who put quite a few hours on a map, and decided to try a diff late-game strategy... and didn't want to have to wait for the long build time to get there....
or even someone who just wants to play the game to design.

Its normally my personal conviction to not use any cheating for ANY form of multiplayer, and only use cheats on single after you've beaten the game legit (and want to paly around with it), or, as you said, you suck at the game and want to be able to play in one form or another.

But, either way, it appears they've already gotten a save-editor, which is 10x easier/better than a live-trainer.

There have been people (myself included) who have needed to nerf their gnomes after a while because they started going too fast and it negatively affected playability... just because someone is editing things doesn't automatically mean it's to make it easier.

Also, if you're on peaceful anyways, it's not like it makes a difference. For example, somebody could be starting a file with the specific intention of creating a really awesome-looking building to show off... there's nothing wrong with doing so, and "cheating" to make their gnomes work a bit faster doesn't hurt anything.

Furthermore, in most single player games, cheating doesn't hurt anyone; therefore, there's not really any reason to complain about people doing so.

I meant that (especially in previous versions) gnomes could eventually get so fast that they were essentially teleporting, and it would for some reason cause the game to lag (it was probably overloading the pathfinding somehow). It hasn't been as much of a problem for me lately, but then again, I've been getting bored of individual fortresses (and therefore abandoning them) sooner, too.

lolololol... yeah, i was playin around... and i set some gnomes to have high dexterity and mining skills... it doesn't take them long to do any huge tasks XD... but going that fast is no fun...

Cheating in single-player is totally valid, and it's especially valid in any sort of sandbox game. Sandbox games are all about experimentation, so it's stupid to have to have to lose hours of work just because one of your experiments went wrong. I don't really understand why anyone would be against that.

Well, you did call people who use cheats "♥♥♥♥ at this genre of games"...

To use this on steam. After you install the editor you need to go to program files \ Gnomoria and move all the contents of the editor into the steam folder with the exe inside.
