Gnomes Run From Enemies
So I have a neat set-up with a Blunderbuss Gnome squad training across a path separated by an empty moat or rail fence. The idea is that Gnomes will open fire as soon as someone walks past them.

However, as soon as my Gnomes come in contact with an enemy they immediately run as if they have Avoid Enemies ticked.

The individual Gnomes have:
  • Retreat if Bleeding
  • Retreat to equip uniform
  • Retreat to refill ammo
  • Marksgnome Perk

Formation has:
  • Firing Squad Perk
  • and all others options like Perform Attack Orders, Defend Gnomes and Avoid Enemies un-ticked.

As soon as they see the opponents they spaz out and run towards a corner without ever firing a single shot. My other military squads including my Flintlock Militia seem to behave just as expected.

This is my set-up as described above: http://i.imgur.com/YIWfSPS.jpg

This can sometimes happen, what you might need to do is manually tell them to attack enemys (Which usually works) at a guard station, and also, what might help is to let them maybe train in a training yard with avoid enemies and then eventually turn avoid enemys off, which usually works for me. Also do you have enough ammunition?

-Fully loaded 32/32 ammo pouch with bronze bullets.

At a guard station? What do you mean by this? Plus I really dislike the idea of setting manual attack orders, since the path they are passing by is technically outside the fortress. They are being dropped in that corridor from above, when a leading enemy triggers a pressure plate and opens hatches along the whole corridor behind him. So the idea is that they would often have to walk there several times past.

However if I would order them to attack they sometimes would run after the enemies as they get out of sight and walk outside past the protection of my proper military.

what might help is to let them maybe train in a training yard with avoid enemies and then eventually turn avoid enemys off, which usually works for me.

If that will work it will be some very strange bug....

blunderbusses have a short range. looks/sounds like they are to far away from the enemy, try to move closer to shoot at them, loose visual contact to the enemy while moving closer to them and return to their assigned station.
Try to place them closer.

I had them placed closer to begin with and had the exact same behaviour. It is not a range problem but the problem is that they are scared and are running. I even removed their training designation and made them attack them on open field where my other squads were engaging in combat with them. At first theiy obeyed the attack order (but only after removing them from training) but as soon as they got within sight range they ran off scared again.
