Gnomoria

so mants just destroyed my kingdome in year 2...
these things slaughtered all 19 of my gnomes. EASILY lol. i mean - they didnt even put up a fight. some came back as zombies - and even the zombies got their butts kickd in a couple seconds by the mants. They even wreckd a group of goblins before they got me.

i guess what im trying to say is are they a little OP? it was so early in the game lol

I have yet to experience mants but im only new to this game, in saying that i have read a bit about mants and I think you can bribe them by having a stockpile with crates loaded with food at surface level and when they have their fill they should leave automatically.

Gnomoria v0.9.11 released
14 MAY - ROBOTRONIC GAMES
General

Mant workers now prioritize stealing food and will leave if enough food has been stolen

Thats what im basing my theory on.
Does anyone know if mants go for the best food first?

I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday. I have a kingdom I can't play because there's no way I can armor my gnomes in bronze before mantsa come and destroy everything. I started again and in summer year 2 with ~300-350 combined food and drink 2 mants spawned.

This time though, I was prepared for the little jerks. I had three gnomes fully armored in bronze with bronze weapons. Each had been training from dthe day they arrived, as had all the other gnomes in my kingdom; each was utilizing the WotG perk. Their dodge was through the roof, and the taunt perk on my armored soldiers stopped the mants from even targetting the unarmored ones. It took a bit but eventually the mants went down without a casualty. The new mechanics are a pain to those of us that used the "keep KW low and you'll be fine until you have enough armor" strategy, but if you focus on getting bronze armor right away you WILL stand a decent chance.

They are a little OP if you're not prepared (gnome limbs fly all over the place even with full copper sets of armor) but with some forethought and plannig it's managable.

You need a decent stockpile as an offering. Of my 300-350 food and drink they took 56 fruit (about 16% of the total combined food/drink) then tried for more. Wheter they were going for drink as well I'm not sure. I didn't have an offering of that.

Remember hammers are more effective against mants.

Give them food to delay their attacks, border up or get everyone to search and kill the scout

Having just experienced a 6 mantis worker attack, while my gnomes had´t even got a full set f copper armor, I too think the Mants are WAY too strong.

i got my new game going and no attacks yet on year 3. im expanding slow and my food and drink stockpiles never get too high. im trying to arm all my gnomes before i start building up my kingdome wealth. its working out so far! except the map im stuck with has too much water and i had to dig to level 30 to get stable metal deposites :(

It happened to me too, but I had no military. Right now I have a 5 years old kingdom with 23 gnome alive and 48 deceased. I made copper armors for each of my gnome. I also built a wall around my base, with a training ground next to the entry of my base

same here. i walled in my mountain and built a training base near the entrance. its worked out good. year 3 -2 dead gnomes-21 living gnomes. slowly building up my armor . i have everyone in helmets right now

my advice to you is to ditch the copper. that stuff gets my guys killed too easily

Copper + tin = bronze. Decent defense, effective agaisnt mants and relatively easy to obtain.

Helmets and breastplates protect you from OHKOs, so if you're really worried get those early.

I had 4 almost fully/fully armored gnomes with a lot of training under their belts and they still stood no match for those horrid creatures.

OP mants are OP.

A gnome decked out with full bronze and a bronze tower sheild using taunt is what you want one or 2 of them and you should easily kill the mants with your other dudes helping them out. That and the other members of that group set with either war hammers or shield/ hammer with shield wall as the formation perk and you should be golden. I don't think they were given any boosts with the patch.

im in year 5 and no mants yet lol. my food is at 200 but my drinks is really low. but its just enough to keep everyone happy. my problem right now is with all the armor im building and weapons - its adding to my KW. im getting attacked my 2 ogres and goblins - some have decked out armor and weapons. lucky for me my entrance is near a couple lakes and during most attacks a goblin or two if im lucky fall into the water. overall id much rather fight ogres and goblins than a pack of mants. ive only lost 4 gnomes and have 25
