Gnomoria

Gnomoria

Bones into bone needles?
Heya guys me again!! Thanks for all the other tips and info you'v given, however i'm stumped yet again. I have killed several badgers to grant me, badger bones. I have all the required buildings to make a bone needle. I am trying to make the bone needle to make a tailor but none of my gnomes will make the bone needle. The bone is just sitting there next to the buther shop (10 bones) and then i pan over to the bone carver click "craft honey badger bone needle" And nothing happens. Any suggestions?

you must enable "Bonecarving" in Misc Craft in one profession to use that workshop

Mass Bug. you have to go in to the gomes menu and take cilk on any gome and go in to Pro. Menu and look for the "Bone crafting" box and press it. and they will make it
Sorry for my bad spelling.

I have a similar problem. In fact it is exactly the same problem.

You need to properly assign your Gnomes the proper jobs to carry out the tasks you want them to do.

You need to assign a Gnome to a Job that involves Bone Carving.

A suggestion a few others have made is to assign at least a few of your starting gnomes to every job.

I dont beleive this is a bug. It feels like a design choice as it forces you to actually look through your menus and assign jobs if you want to get things done. Due to the way the gnomes usually are I usually assign bonecarving to Ranchers since they have seem to have the least amount of work to do.

One of the first things you should be doing in Gnomoria is learning to get away from the Default Jobs, altering them to your own liking.

I can honestly say that trying to play the game using only the basic jobs is not only extremely difficult, as they miss some of the very neccessary jobs in the default professions, but it's very inefficient and you won't get much done very quickly.

Everyone who plays Gnomoria, after getting ahold of the controls, you should be invetigating the Professions tab and realising what every job does, and plan out wha jobs you will -need-. At which point you should start breaking down those jobs into more specific tasks to improve the flow of work in your Kingdom.

While it is difficult to simply the jobs at first due to lack of Gnomes, you want to do your best to combine Jobs that will synergize well together. The more Simple your Professions are, the more efficient your Gnomes will be when doing all of their assigned jobs.

As a quick example, I believe Farmers are defaulted to be Cooks and use the Kitchen and Distillery. I personally make sure Farmers do not do these jobs, and instead assign Gnomes specifically to only do cooking and making drinks. The reason for this is because Farming is extremely important, and you often have less Gnomes than you'd like to work those fields, thus it is best to give them the most opportunity to just keep on the fields and harvest as much as possible. Food and Drink are also neccesity items that you must have, else your Gnomes will die and you will lose the game. Therefore, I also have my Cooks/Distillery Workers set to pretty much -only- make Food and Drink, since I will always need those items, and plenty of them.

You might also want to take off Hauling for the gnomes with busy schedules (like farmers or dedicated stoneworkers); otherwise, they'll try to haul stuff in the middle of their other job. >.<

I must agree that getting away from default professions - and quickly - is definitely one of the first steps to really enjoying this game. The default ones do not have a good synergy balance and you will find yourself being frustrated very easily.

Everyone has their own preferences, but I personally have dedicated miners, crafters, cooks, grove workers, farmers, ranchers, tinkerers, soldiers, and hauler/builders. In the beginning I won't have all of them of course, but making some specialized gnomes will definitely make your work go a lot smoother!

They won't haul if they have other stuff to do, but that is based on the profession priority which you can control.

However, it is possible that a hauler is constantly busy hauling stone and dirt, so that other things don't get hauled. In that case, don't dig as much stuff or temporarily suspend the stockpile which is getting dirt or stone, or remove it from the main stockpile if that is the one you are carrying those items to.
