Military Gnomes won't Equip gear...

So i see some of my gnomes not wearing any of the gear i have in stock. I currently have in terms of weapons/armor:

6 Swords
2 Hammers
2 Axes
1 Claymore
1 Warhammer
4 Shields
9 Helmets
6 Breastplates
6 Boots
6 Gauntlets

When i look at some of my gnomes they either carry no weapons or are not wearing the boots and gloves. I am using the basic pre-set for the formations, i am using the "basic soldier" so the gear selection for them is "any", they are using the default uniform "platemail". I made sure that the route to the equipment is valid and i made sure they have idle time.

I have no idea why they do not want to equip the gear...

Any help would be much appreciated

From left to right (on the military UI):
Formation has to do with SQUAD perk and POSITION(S).
Position has to do with WEAPON &/ ARMOR perk and UNIFORM.
Uniform has to do with overall gear selection.

No, the default 'Basic Soldier' preset is a position. The gear selection (uniform) on 'Basic Soldier' is the default 'Platemail'.

You mentioned you have your uniform set to 'Platemail'. With 'Platemail', all items must be crafted in metal. If they're not, the soldiers will not wear it. So if they're missing pieces of their uniform, this must mean not all of your armor and weapons are made out of metal, and therefore your gnome will not equip it.

• Remember that some weapons/shields are two-handed.
  
• Gnomes follow your specific orders. For example, if you create a uniform with all tabs saying 'any', they will equip the first thing they can get their hands on. If you want a specific uniform you must make sure you have the materials you assigned.
  
• You can always make your own uniform selection with the different weapons and armor you have available.The menus have various selections depending on the material. You should then assign it in the 'Positions' tab.

[EDITED] I found the solution, Apparently when you craft one boot, it literally means one boot... Same goes for Pauldrons, Gauntlets, Greaves... Also when i went into each person to see what they were assigned to, it said unifrom was set to default, once i changed that they started to equipe weapons and armor. Thanks for your help though @ ?(1)

I did everything that you told me yet still two of my gnomes refuse to wear the extra gear. I have four extra bronze swords and two extra bronze shields. In the Uniform section i told them to use in their left hand a bronze sword and in their other hand a bronze shield. (the shield is not a tower shield). i stil have two pairs of boots and gautnlets and they are Malachite, it is a metal i looked on the Gnomoria Wiki....

At this point i have no idea what to do.

i found out the problem it's all good, if your gnomes do not equip anything it's because of the unifrom they are assigned to.

I solved this problem by assigning gnomes to guard area. They equipped uniforms immediately! They didn't want to do that during daily job nor any invasion. Very weird connection.
