help, idk why but starting today octodads legs seem to mostly want to split apart and go other ways so they are resistant to going the other direction

Hi!

Try disconnecting any controllers you might have connected and reconnecting them. This sounds like either a button/joystick was being pressed while a controller was connecting/disconnecting, or that one of your joysticks is faulty and drifting.

i think that the drifting part might be correct, while playing metal gear rising i noticed the camera kept drifting upward so i think i might need a new controller cause this controllers pretty old

try recalibrating your controllers
SketchyStreet Jul 8, 2022 @ 3:09pm
they are calibrated
Salty Pretzel Jul 8, 2022 @ 3:54pm
i say recalibrate because it may be stick drift because of your controller, its perfectly normal but really annoying so id advise recalibrating it via steam and adjust the dead zones, start with autocalibration, up, down, left, right, up right, up left, down right, down left, circle clockwise 3 times, circle counterclockwise 3 times, then move on to the other joystick and repeat process (go slow and be sure it counts every movement), then adjust dead zones so the point does not leave the circle when gently wiggling the thumbsticks (gently wiggle, dont push when there is spring resistance) (the dead zone circle should be red/black)

make sure only 1 controller is plugged in/connected

maybe its out of calibration because of use? thats completely normal and part of normal wear and tear, it just needs recalibration

if its faulty thumbsticks you may need to replace the controller or thumbstick unit

hope this helps

only the last part helped, i have no other controllers, and my controller moves on the calibration screen without being touched, so its likely just related to the controller its self, not the calibration
Salty Pretzel Jul 8, 2022 @ 4:20pm
id still recalibrate it and see if that helps, it may just be bad calibration, if that doesnt work then the controller is defective
SketchyStreet Jul 8, 2022 @ 4:33pm
i've recalibrated lots of times this has been a problem for a while
