PS3 Afterglow controller can't move arm up and down
Hi All,

I'm having an issue in that I can't get the right arm to move up and down with the PS3 Afterglow controller. I thought it was something to do with the axis mapping but I've remapped the controls and it still doesn't work.

This has been tried on Steam OS and also Xubuntu 14.04 Asus Mainboard with I5 cpu. Graphics cards are ATI 7770 and 6870. I've tried 3 different PS3 afterglow controllers. The same thing happens with each. SteamOS and js-test see all the axis and buttons correctly.

Here's what I have tried so far:

Original configuration assigns up and down to forward and backward on the right analogue stick. Pressing forward and backward does nothing. Left and right works fine to move the arm left and right.

I swapped these axis so that left right on the right analogue stick moved the arm up and down. and forward back moved the arm left right. Now when pressing forward and back the arm moves left and right (as expected) but moving the stick left and right does not move the arm up and down.

I tried similar swaps using the left analogue stick to try to control the up / down movement but none of the axis would control the up down movement leading me to believe it is something in the game itself that is ignoring the action from the game pad for that particular movement.

If I switch to keyboard or mouse, I can control the up down and other movements fine, it just seems to ignore it for the controller.

Any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Adam.

We're working on some linux fixes regarding PS3 controller, so it will hopefully be better supported in the future.

hi Luthyr, Great to hear, I look forward to seeing the improvements, as far as support for the controller goes, all the axis seem to work, it's just no matter which axis I assign to the up down arm motion, none of them make the arm go up and down. Assigning any of the axis to the left right or forward / back works fine.

TommyKyle, thanks for the comment, I'm using linux though, not windows and running steam natively on linux, not through wine. The PS3 controller works fine under linux and js-test picks up all the axis and buttons. The controller works great in other games such as trine 2, don't starve, bastion and various other steam games.

Cheers,

Adam.

This describes my issues exactly. Is there any known work-around? I can tell the game wasn't designed with the mouse in mind, as the level of the escalators was near impossible because of the speed I had to pick up the mouse and place it down again.

I'm running Windows 7 with a PS3 controller. The PS3 controller hasn't given me any trouble with any other games, but nothing I can do can move the hand up and down.

Disregard. Tommy was right. The solution is to get motioninjoy, find a youtube video that teaches me how to actually use motioninjoy, follow instructions, and every controller issue I've ever had with every game ever fixes itself. You're tops Tommy.
