Fishery opinions
I honestly think the fishery needs a buff, it's really bad in comparison with the hunter + butcher shop combo. Even just the hunter alone collects more animals faster than the fisher rat collects fish.

What do you guys think of the fishery? It's it ok or it needs a buff?

Mine is fishing out the angler fish alright but its always out and volume wise hunting and rabbit farm is better. But then I didnt do a good look into it. Just built the fishery out just for the sake of testing it.

fishery is just not worth it, basically they are just too far from home, and mid/late game you can just sink rabbits so you don't need any time to attack the rabbit instead just pick them up.

Fishery is good for food diversity if you have the griller building and its well equipped. If the water source is far from your base youll need a cart or lift to make it worth while though

Yeah, but the problem it's my ratizens eating all the fish before it can be cooked.
I already have the law's maxed for allowing my ratizens to use other goods, so I can't ban the consumption of raw fish.

Hope the devs give us something like rimworld, where we just click a box if we want our population to touch or not touch a product. Not a law for every, single, item. :rat_thinking:

You can prevent them from eating the fish man. You got so many posts about how your upset you can't do stuff, but its all possible lol. Click the storage with the fish in it. Go to the gear at the top right tab of the storage. Change the release item setting and change the fish icon to a pause. This prevents rats from buying it from storage to consume, but does not prevent a rat from taking items to process them further. Then have your griller make it into a dish, and the rats will then buy the cooked version only.

Beyond that, if your rats are opting to eat raw fish, you have a poverty issue you need to solve. Rats don't eat uncooked food unless they are too poor or your production isn't up to speed enough.

All gathering buildings are only good in early game, eventually you want to move on to farms. Right now there is no fish farm in the game, and that's the real problem.

Fish are quite ok early on if you found them near you. It is the only raw food that gives whopping 40 hungers so your ratizens don't need to eat often. It falloff once you setup processed food chain. Grilled fish also pretty good since you don't need salt for it, and it gives INT boost which make ratizens leveling faster.

Whoa... THAT is some great advice there. I had no idea that setting items to "no release" still let crafters collect them, this really is game changing info! Thanks.

Now this is super useful, thanks for this precious info.

They are lackluster. I have 3 and they can barely keep up with food demands of a small colony, even when all entirely grilled.

If you're trying to get food diversity I can see it having their place, but with the current forced logistics of bunching your buildings all together, there's far better options currently.

in some map start, theres a big 2 fish hideout right below ur base, then its a good sign to develop fishery, otherwise maybe build a storage next to the fishery as ur expanded mini forward base

This is just plain wrong. If you forbid Release then nobody can buy items from that storage no matter what. You have to setup a commercial law on resource consumability and toggle off all class in it.

Please test your theory before misinforming people.

I was wondering why my grinders where not working on making flour.
But it's true, as soon I unlocked grain they began to grind.

Still, I don't consider the tip he gave bad.
At least lets you save resources while you get your workshops online by not allowing ratizens to take them from chest.

Now, I DO want a law that lets us select multiple items to ban from consumption or allow for multiple item consumption at the same time, and not have to do a law for each one of them.

:rat_happy::pickax: Now back to the grind.

They will still pull items to build because that is your order but won't purchase items out to use for themselves. If you get the rabbit -> raw meat production running and already have some at hand, you can disable release on grain to save them for flour. After you get the Code Stone then you can forbid grain consumption, and allow bread for the poor at the same time.

🤣

Yea i hit level 8 prosperity and won the game having 19 upper class citizens and i didnt know how storage settings work..... likely scenario frfr. Wonder how my rats were refining base items into higher tiers then.... 🤣
