Question about Auto beds
If I set the beds for Auto, did my Floorer rats would sleep on bed? Or automatically prefer to sleep on the ground instead?

As far as I've read, they'll sleep in the bed if they've been assigned to it, and the auto-assignment system does not bother discriminating between rats. Floorer is a beginner's trap, it seems; sleeping on the floor is much less efficient than sleeping on a bed. You'll find, over time, that the Floorer rats will tend to have lower Energy and Happiness compared to ones that don't have that trait.

Even without activating the Auto on beds. The floorer will take a bed slot if available after some time from my experience. 100% Not worth using the floorer perk.

Before you place the bed press "R". It switches between Manual and Auto.

Auto beds are a trap most of the time, it doesn't care about how far the rat is from their jobs. or amenities. Auto beds are useful for housing the unemployed.

i think current system count direct line of sight distant for building range.
i hope autobed system could use pathing distant which might work better for auto bed

I actually hate the bed assigning mechanic, even when it's automated. Rats should just sleep in the nearest available bed. 1/5 of my city is just beds, but 90% of them are unused at any given time.

There's even absurd situations where a rat sleeps on the floor, right next to a free bed. Because the bed they were automatically assigned to was too far away. The amount of micromanaging required to optimize it is just ridiculous.

i think if u line a 3tile tall horitonzal full bunkerbed line across the map right below ur starting storage

and later make a railway on ur left and right side of storage, rats will seek their closest autobed and mark their name on it.
the rail travel shorten their time to get back to base if u have large base

and of course, u need to give some ladder assist their way into "bed room" (which i hate rail and ladder doesnt co exist)

but of course u can make that bedroom above ground, that way ladder and rail can co exist. currently most of my production building is above storage, maybe i should try to make beds above storage and working area below

its actually more efficient if u use rail and lift system to spread out mini colonies across the map, just build bed toilet and storage tightly packed and connect it with rail and lift to ur central storage

The issue is I'm still expanding/remodeling my city, so rats will change their work place but their assigned bed won't, unless I do it manually.

I don't know but there could a limit on the beds range, like there is for most other buildings. If the range is only 40 blocks but my city is 100+, railroads aren't going to help (and yes I do have an entire floor of railroads spanning the entire map + lifts)

I guess I'll have to destroy the beds and rebuild them so they get assigned properly, but only when I'm done with the changes in my city.

let say u found 3-4 rabbit holes closely packed at distant, u build ur railway to that place,

drop a storage box connected to the rail,
build 1toilet 2 bunkersbeds , 1 hunter 2 butchers surrounding that storage box

(that way autobed will assign these 3 workers on these bunker beds, then ur central base beds will free up for whoever working at central base)

This is why you build a bed next to their workplace so it is easier to manage.

manage bed for every rat is too tired, auto bed should return to empty after the rat leave
