How do I transport water that is too far away?

I know the water catcher moves water my problem is my only water source is well out of the 40 tile max range so I need to move it somehow. Can I build a water catcher further out (outside my security perimeter) and have them dump the water in a "well" I create? Or am I just screwed?

What I want to do is build a second water catcher, have them dump it into a "man made well", and then have the WC in my city pick it up from there.

No I'll build some. Also do I need a training camp for every soldier? That's a lot of space and resources.

I'm still learning the game just like you, but yeah I believe you need one per soldier. As when the training meter fills up it just goes to 0 and starts filling again. I'm not even sure exactly what the training does, as the soldier buffs don't seem to grow stronger or anything. Higher level camps for better soldiers say something about requiring basic training to use them, but I haven't found any indication of training levels yet. Maybe it just pumps their strength stat up, and the higher level camps have a strength requirement, but that's something I'll have to figure out. Soldiers also respond to enemies within a certain range of the camp they're training at (which can be modified). So you probably either want camps near where you get attacked, or have some kind of transportation system in place for rapid deployment.

Just build dewebs to create a water source where you want.

You can't dump water once it got boxed. If the water tank is too far, build a small chest near the water source and forbid it to store everything but water. Build a porter station then set it to haul water back to a storage of your chosen.
