thoughts from a new/returning player.
i bought the game when it was on sale, and i enjoyed the time i spent on it. I've recently started playing it again and i have some thoughts/ideas/suggestions that id love to talk about/discuss.
Enemy Aggro
I feel like i should be able to lose enemy aggro. The most annoying thing in the game by far is when I'm low on loot and run into a hand or worm. With no way to lose them I'm just dead, unless i dark-souls them with my pipe. this IS a suggestion. another suggestion is to maybe give some leeway before aggro is triggered?
More visual disturbance Kinda
i LOOOOVE the vibe of the game, and the visual disturbances are a big part of creating that atmosphere. Yes, they can be quite disrupting to some people and I'm really glad that there's ways to mitigate this present in the game now. i feel like should have the option to increase it as well, just for my own suffering.
Flashlight level
i want a flashlight level.
Melee
This game does a really good job of selling the military fantasy it provides. Slowly clearing out rooms of monsters one by one that should of probably killed you already. It's You vs horrors beyond any comprehension. The only thing between you and an unmarked grave being your gun and your ability to stay calm, use your environment to your advantage and make decisions under pressure. So why is the best choice 70% of the time to walk up to them and beat them with a pipe whilst strafing right? the melee is way too strong, with an insane stagger and range, doing more damage than most bullets, it completely ruins the tension present in the game. i have no idea how you'd fix this as its core to the game play and difficultly, maybe nerf the melee and give more ammo? maybe add a durability system? remove the stagger to make it more risky? these are a few ideas I've had but i don't know how well they'd work. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO THE FIREAXE IN THE SAME WAY its an investment, it should be powerful, it also just feels really satisfying.
inventory
this is the big one everyone talks about, i have a few ideas but i doubt they are new.
1.key items like keys not taking up inventory slots
2.Having 2 separate inventories, one for guns, the other for everything else.
a nice quality of life thing would also be if the game auto equipped a gadget upon pickup if don't have one already.

Another thing I would add about an inventory is that it must scroll from the top to bottom immediately by pushing up, it's strange that isn't like that from the beggining
