HOW compatible is it REALLY?

I see Eidos dumping all their old games into Steam recently, saying they're well compatible with XP/Vista/7. But I doubt any work was done on these games to make them compatible.
So, the question is, were there any compatibility problems with these games before and do they exist in these, Steam, versions?

Legacy of Kain Defiance works well so far, FMV's load and the Sarafan Citadel loads just fine. Unfortunately for my set up, Tomb Raider 2 does not play the FMV's at all, and the buttons are mapped to the shortcut to rotate your screen, which will sometimes cause the game to crash.

what I don't understand is why not get a PS2 copy of this game for like $5 on ebay and just download a PS2 emulator. theres really no point to getting the steam version, especially if you already have the PS2 copy

That's a very strange way of looking at these things.

Emulators for PS have always been extremely buggy and require many tweaks.

Besides if the publisher sees that there is still interest on the LoK series, they might be willing to produce new games. If you feel they are expensive, then wait for a sale and buy them at a very reduced price.

I personally had a rather unique bug on the ps2 of soul reaver 2 where the entrance to a swamp temple stopped opening after you solves the sun/moon puzzle, and in order to get around it i had to replay up to that area, then avoid any checkpoints inside the temple, so I could die in both realms and have my essence brought back outside. Twas quite a challenge and made the rest of the game seem a good bit easier.

They should be ok, they've been on GOG for ages and the feedback seems fine.

But GOG might've implemented some changes to them, whereas on Steam games are released in their vanilla state usually, it seems.

easy fix had that issue with alot of games just take it off full screen mode that should fix it

PS emus run smooth as butter. I think they're always a better option than the PC version of the same game.

Buy the series if you like it ebough to support the company. If there is enough interest in the old series it could lead to new games. That seems to be happening a lot lately with old games series. I'm crossing my fingers for a new Raziel story.
