Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days

Spawning in zombies mid-level is stupid.
Second time I've lost a character because the game spawned in a random zombie. Want to use the firepole? Soon as you touch it a zombie spawns at the bottom. Walking backwards silently where you came from? There's now a zombie under that car you passed that automatically jumps out and attacks you if you get near - sure hope there aren't several nearby zombies in the background.

Was enjoying it even if it was a bit repetitive but that's killed any desire for me to play.

lol it is stupid, glad i didnt lose any1
These are hidden zombies, not random ones, in a room in the background, behind a counter, behind a trash can, under a taxi, in a truck, etc. You have to listen carefully to the sound effects, turn up the volume, hence the absence of music, it's intentional.

as said, there is no random *spawning zombies* they are already in the room, few are hidding, but most of them are *visible*.

its a nice thing for suprises! a bad thing would be total predictability

They are already there, you just weren't paying attention
i understand the game is enjoyable, and already has a small fan base. but lets clear the elephant in the room; this game is still in EA, and it has many, many bugs. I have witnessed full clearing a house, getting the "its all clear to move in", only to go upstairs for like 10 mins, to go take care of a quick chore, and come back to it still saying its safe, going down the stairway to have 4 zombies inside of eachother, looking in different directions, not moving. I have also witnessed multiple instances of some zombies not being able to be hit, at all. The game is good, but some people need to just except that what others are experiencing can be due to bugs.

Almost more than 4000 to 8000 players at every moment, and some nice regulars on this forum despite the trolls, and an impeccable artistic and programming achievement, despite its EA status, despite therefore inevitable bugs but few even if it is annoying for some, despite features inevitably pending, and despite the defects of realism like the fragile weapons but explainable because let's say that it is worn and rusty as long as we don't make them with the workbench as well as bullets, and which make it a type of platform game in the style of the 1980s as claimed by the context itself, and these are everyday people like you and me, not snipers or special forces commandos: it is a fact, yes, this game has a soul, a good soul I think, and something special exciting, until proven otherwise which would reverse its semiosis, obviously. For my part, I progress slowly certainly, only 11 hours of play and I take my time, I have not seen any bug, no major problem, only disparities in the new calibration of resource arrangement (but I may be mistaken in my perception). A real treat to explore these places and follow the gameplay and its "story" serving as a pretext to...

If you enjoy wasting your time and losing progress to a zombie showing up for absolutely no reason other than you interacted with a stationary object that makes no noise or walked past a certain point, enjoy the game. I have no further reason to play a game that wants to waste my time. There's no sound effect a zombie that's become activated for no reason at all except for pacing back and forth which these zombies don't do - they just show up.

If your reasoning is the zombie is in the background already (which it might be and just move to a new position), why are we being taught a game mechanic where we can sneak past them in the first place? Why don't they all just suddenly pop out at any point and just kill everyone? That's basically the point you're arguing for - they're already there so its alright.

I actually saw a Zombie literally spawn in. Can't remember which map though.
I had another similar experience on a map/location I can't remember the name of, but it had lots of containers(as in big shipping containers), I moved left on screen, then turned around (forgot why) and took ONE step to the right, just enough for the camera to move a bit more to the right (from where I came) and lo and behold, there we have a Zombie standing. Where the F did he come from? Flew down from the sky? Dont tell me he was 'hidden' behind something, this particular container had zero stuff in the background, it was on top of another container - so not likely that this Zombie climbed up.
So the whole suddenly spawning in, or "they were there the whole time, hidden" - I am more inclined to believe the random spawn theory.
That said, I do *know* that some of those Z's that are in the background, that mainly only become active if there's a lot of noise, I've seen them get active with me in another room (didnt make a sound).
So I dunno, I'm pretty sure both theories are correct in a way.
But having a Z popping up behind me on top of a container, that is definitely a spawn.

Personally I'm losing more and more interest in the game partly because of this weird annoying 'mechanic'. I'm not 'hating' on the game or whatever some butthurt fan might wanna claim. Just saying I witnessed with my own 2 eyes, a Zombie just spawning in.
Other things that bugs me about the game ..well, most of those are probably down to player skill, so won't whine about that yet. But with the interest in the game already dwindling for me personally, I dont think I'll find the interest and motivation to actually become a 'good' player.
Anyhow, that's not really the point nor the topic here. But the game and devs needs to really let us know that zombies can or *cannot* randomly pop up in a level. If nothing else, that gives us a proper answer - maybe.
The zombie I saw just spawn in, sure, he could've been one of those 'background' zombies, but if so, he was in the background way WAAAY far away. So there's zero possibility for him to just suddenly wake up, and rush up the container somehow,

All in all, this game gave me a few hours of some entertainment, so I appreciate that. But not gonna waste my time on a game that kills any 'mmersion'(how immersed can u be, there's effing zombies in the game lol) where the game seems to be literally trying to F you over with unbelievable stupid mechanics - aka spawning zombies.
Just because you dont see Zombies popping up everywhere and every time, does not mean they dont some times spawn in. OR teleport. Either way it is killing the game - for me anyway.

i like the sound in this game
so i have my headset on
i sometimes hear zombies when none is visible
curious, but didn't think too much about it

one time i stealth killed a single zombie with a loud weapon
(to make use of loud weapons of course)
and a zombie which wasn't visible popped out from nowhere

i learned my lesson to have keen hearing
exploring other floors to find out where the sound is coming from

i like this mechanic. it keeps me on my toes
i wouldn't like it if it was totally random,
and player couldn't do anything about it

I like scripted zombie "surprises", but I don't like that they can see through cover and stealth.

E.g. in taxi depot Peggy walks past a taxi, scripted zombie crawls from under the car behind her, I immediately hit "hide" on the side of the car, and after zombie crawled out, he immediately attack her IN COVER. Like, wtf?

So far the best reaction should be not running, but immediately killing the spawned scripted zombie .
