Can we please get multiplayer?
I think this game would hit a way bigger player pool if you could give control of the extra character to a friend to simultaneously do stuff

NO. Not everything has to be multiplayer. Go play one of the dozens and dozens of multiplayer zombies game and let us have this one.

I do not really think it is possible as the game is. You can send one survivor for looting mission only.
accordingly

The whole premise - much like many of the games built on a similar engine and same scope - is single player management of characters and resources; chances of the devs up and changing that approach at this stage in development is pretty unlikely.

Not in all cases - I've had many runs of chaotic fun with my friends in the old school Baldur's Gate games, which people said shouldn't have been multiplayer, for instance - but for this style of game, I do very much agree with you.
