Also, be aware that an EA version that disappoints you or is abandoned benefits from a refund possibility if I remember correctly (check that first), but the studio seems solid and motivated.
If you really want to play the final version without following its development, that's completely understandable. It's up to you to decide what would spoil your enjoyment, or not, in terms of replayability.

Also, the devs chose the Discord level with requires phone.
They didn't have to, the only difference between them is requiring phone.
They chose, hence, devs are requiring.
Personally, I've been on Discord for at least 4 years.
