What's your take on the police station?

I think it highlights some of the worst and the best parts of the game:

The atmosphere is top notch.When the game first has you use the flashlight in a dark room...*chef's kiss* but the station also comes with most situations that feel like traps, for example zombies crawling out from under something already aggroed even if you've been sneaking the whole time.

In particular the part in the cellblock has both: Great setting* but also a seemingly unavoidable scripted head-on fight because unless you can hide amongst the you-know-what, then you're conered.


*Side note: While I think the scene looks great, it's maybe a little overdone in the audio & visual department. The part upstairs in the long hallway is way more unsettling without any extra effects layered on top.

Very much so, I don't even barricade the first shelter to save that precious wood in the beginning since every single piece of loot makes a difference at the start.

I was trying to get the weapons bench up and running but was delayed one phase because I had crafted one lockpick too many earlier and was short one piece of metal.

(But despite some inefficiencys I finally repaired a pistol and the roof of the taxi place sounds like a good spot for it. Maybe I will also take revenge on that one zombie who loves taxis so much.)

Wierdly enough, in the arcade, the one place where you expect an open fight. you can quickly slip into the hiding spot next to you after hitting the switch and wait for the zombies to calm down. On recent runs I found that most situations have an out but you either need prior knowledge or be very quick.

What arcade? I havent seen an arcade. I cant go further than the fire station.

If I remember correctly you get the location of the police station by scouting from the vantage point at "Griffith & Sons Hardware Store".

There is a ladder up to the roof right after you jump out of the window on the first floor on the back.

Edit: Should give you the Arcade aswell.

Its on the opposite side of the Fire Station. If you set up in the arcade you'll be in range to loot the police station. Due to demo limitations, I think you can only reach the Fire station OR the police station in a single playthrough.

I didnt even know there is an arcade. I only got three hide out spots and used all 3 of them. So i dunno how to get to said arcade.

oh dang i just found it, feel like they need to make the ladder a bit more visible i seriously could not see it due to the angle.

Missed it the first few times aswell. Unless you go back, it really is hard to see.

Wonder if that's deliberate but then again, I later noticed you can see the telescope when sneaking through the first floor apartment and they probably don't want the player to miss out on content.

How does one get a gun?

You need:

- 10 Weapon parts, a broken pistol, plus some metals & screws to repair
- Workbench Level 2 for the Dismantling Bench & Bolt Cutters
- Weapons Bench Level 2 for Pistol repairs
- The Place Aubrey points out for dismantling metals. I think she's on the roof of the Taxi place, ontop of the scaffolding. After you rescued her, move away a couple steps, she's gonna wave you over and you can interact with her again (US Route 93, bring bolt cutters)
- Joe for the "Gearhead" Trait for extra resources when dismantling & more inventory space when looting US Route 93 ( He's at "Texway Gas Station", I think)

Not the best save, I've wasted a cycle but it gives you at least one day to try out the gunplay. Comes with a pistol and 25 bullets.

(I recommend the Taxi place. I killed almost no zombies there and even with the background zombies it's not overwhelming if you're careful and should be just enough to kill almost all if you're lucky.

By the way, there's no reloading sound, at least for me.
