So.. can you not melee zombies? By that I mean actually kill them.
Kind of lame that you always have to have a weapon and that weapon lasts like 2-3 kills. Which means in most place if you don't run with multiple weapons taking up backpack space your screwed. I do not get why if your say sneaking from behind you can't do some kind of neck snap or something.

U can outsmart the zombies besides relying on your fist, if u truly dont have weapons at the moment. There are certain areas provide hiding spot for a reason. Sharing some tips is that: if u need to clear the area for the next shelter, that is where u need to use weapons. If u are going for only scavenge, try not to use the melee weapon, and sneak pass the zombies instead. One of the best examples is the old ballard top floor there, on the right side of the loitering zombies, I crouch and follow the zombie behind, wait until it walk nearby the open window, and I punch (not using weapons) the zombie out out from the window and it fell (sometimes dead, sometimes it is not). Old ballard house I need only to kill 2 zombies at most and I can get away while using sneak, hide, trap the zombies in the room closing door tactics, or lead the frenzy zombies following u then drop down to the hole on the ground.

Try your level best to conserve weapons, my experience is that u need to have a silence weapon and a good melee damage weapon while going for scavenge. Example the first challenge scavenge at Irving drive the abandon house, I didnt even use the scissors to sneak kill, I just run towards to the zombies, alert the zombies to chase after me, I climb up on top of the roof, wait for it to cool down frenzy and walk back into the house, climb down from roof close the door, and walk off with ease while using my lock pick to unlock the shack to grab the loots. This is one of many ways to conserve the weapons (scissors) to be better use in a situation.
