Some suggestions :)
This game is awesome I cant get enough of it, I have play a lot of times to try out :) I would like to suggest the following ideas to add some spice and challenge to the game: (1) internal injuries, rib cage or sprained foot survivors need bandages to recover, their walking will be slow or limping so that it is not ideal to send injured survivors out to scavenge (2) survivors suffer food poison or diseases that need medication should not be able to work or scavenge, they can only be rested with medication to recover (3) The fire arm is great, but in the 1980's fire arm we have glock or magazine fire arm pistols already? im not sure, suggest to replace fire arm with revolver (6 rounds or 5 rounds with cylinder) (4) can consider not to put assault rifle from the weapon station, also doesnt sound logic players can actually homemade assault rifle unless u find one from the military post or gun shop. I would think that the assault rifle is too OP maybe kill the game or no challenge facing zombie threats. (5) Morale, good morale should be able to deal critical melee damage to zombie or maybe increase working efficiency to building stations. (maybe less 1 phase of building working station?) (6) increase challenge, while we enjoy resident evil series or silent hill games with puzzles challenge, I think it might also works here in into the dead: our darkest days, the puzzles no need to be super confuse, just that certain key items must get in order to unlock certain areas, or items, messages, maps need to be combine together in order to see the content or unlock some important messages. (7) more environmental hazard (maybe fire?), yes more jumping, more surprise zombie traps, or setting up traps for the zombies to increase the strategy and testing players response, old ballard house for example its a good one. (8) shelter with 0 barricades, and the survivors with no weapons in hand or inventory is instant death, as the survivors are overwhelmed by the zombies horde as the zombies manage to broken into the shelter survivors cant escape without weapons. If the survivors does survive with at least some weapons with them, the survivors will be forced to choose the next shelter or must clear out the zombies out from the shelter before can safely moving in.

dont like your suggestions, you basically want a hardcore mode wich im sure will be available

some of the things you mention are already in the game, though not in the demo .

i would like to see more auto interactions between the survivors, like them having conversations and such.

Why don't survivors use derogatory remarks for the zombies?

Well Quentin Tarantino is right that he wants a tough game but at the same time I agree the game should have hardcore mode and also easy mode for the regular casuals.
