I looked at what was happening when I launched and it is the launcher appears to have issues, 773 logged errors from loading main menu to starting the game. Some with buffer overflow errors on file in the syswow64 then has alot more rows regarding direct x files like these

There is an option in UC settings:
Minimize Ubisoft Connect PC to the system tray when the application window is closed
Make sure you untick it, so the client will close when you close it after finishing a game.
Otherwise it will run in the background.
