Is it impossible to play ultrawide and HDR at the same time?

I'm trying to play this game in HDR in my ultrawide monitor but it seems impossible. I cannot belive whats going on.

There is 5 Windows Modes in the game, but, apparently, there is just one capable of turning HDR mode on, which is FULLSCREEN. BUT, some ridiculous issues happens. My monitor is ultrawide, so I choose 2560x1080 res. The game image imediately turns to horizontally stratched, as if it is 1920x1080 stratched to cover all the ultrawide screen.

If I change FULLSCREEN to FS BORDERLESS, 2560x1080 res works all right, but HDR option disables.

Is Ubisoft really ridiculous or maybe some bug is happening here? Is there some file that I can rewrite to start to work propperly? Pretty shure I`m not the only player in the world trying to play this in ultrawide and HDR at the same time.

Thanks a lot.

Open the game settings folder:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Watch Dogs Legion\

Open the game settings file:
WD3_GamerProfile.xml

Find and change ForceAspectRatio="0" to the exact number you need. 2560 / 1080 = 2.37?

For example, I used ForceAspectRatio="1.77777779" when I wanted to get non-stretched 16:9 1280x720 resolution with black bars on top and bottom on my very old 1280x1024 monitor.

Thanks for the tip buddy but it is strangely not working. I remember I did it in Watch Dogs 2 and it worked. People are saying that it works on Legion too but I`m struggling to succeed. I still can`t believe Ubisoft is so bad at this.

I've no idea what is happening, man, but the problem is clearly on your side.

Look, I have 2560x1440 16:9 monitor, so I've created custom 2560x1080 resolution through AMD adrenalin software and set my desktop resolution to 2560x1080, just in case.

I set ForceAspectRatio="2.37" (the game later updated the setting to ForceAspectRatio="2.36999989"), WindowWidth="2560", WindowHeight="1080", FullscreenWidth="2560" and FullscreenHeight="1080" in the config file, Launched the game, it properly recognized the resolution, 2560x1080 became available in display options. In the end I got properly stretched 2560x1080 resolution with correct aspect ratio both in window and fullscreen modes with HDR working in fullscreen mode.

Everything is working on my side.

It's not working with the same values that you have mensioned. I did something like this on watch dogs 2 and it worked immediately. The version I am playing is not from Steam, but from Ubisoft Connection app. Maybe it has something to do? I don't believe it. Thanks again for your help.

I don't have mouse icon next to my name, because I'm playing Ubisoft Connect version as well. Anyway, it doesn't matter, it only affects mod support (most of them are compatible with Steam version anyway).

I have no idea why it's not working for you. May be you've changed other values too. That's how my monitor related settings within config file looked like:

<RenderProfile HDROutputEnable="1" HDRMaxTVNits="1000" HDRPaperWhite="200" AdapterIndex="0" OutputIndex="0" WindowPosX="0" WindowPosY="4" WindowWidth="2560" WindowHeight="1080" IsWindowMaximized="0" FullscreenWidth="2560" FullscreenHeight="1080" ForceAspectRatio="2.36999989" Quality="pc_custom" QualityEditor="pc_editor" WindowMode="1" Force16_9="0" UseMonitorAspectRatioInFullscreen="0" FpsLimit="60" FpsLimitUnfocused="30" FpsLimitMinimized="10" ForceWidescreen="0" WidescreenFOV="0" AspectRatio="0" VSync="0" RefreshRateNumerator="0" RefreshRateDenominator="0" MaxDriverBufferedFrames="0" IsCalibrationSetup="0" ClustersZPassMaxLOD="1" NewBrightness="1" Contrast_v3="1" Sharpness_v2="0.119999997" NewGammaRamp="1" GammaRampR="1" GammaRampG="1" GammaRampB="1" FovScale="1" RollbackAdapterIndex="-1" MayNeedAdapterRollback="0" MenuPositionMonitor="4294967294" MultimonitorHUD="0" HUDSafeFrameMargin="0" DaltonizationMode="0" DaltonizationStrength="1">

May be you've changed GPU scaling settings or something, may be your monitor 'allows' to set higher resolutions than 2560x1080, and the game takes incorrect aspect ratios from there, so you need to edit EDID info. May be UseMonitorAspectRatioInFullscreen="1" will help you (which is pointless for me, cause mine is 16:9). 2560x1080 works flawlessly for me.

I play on a 3440x1440 monitor with no issues at all. Full screen with HDR. I own the game over at Ubisoft.
