This is Kingdom: Two Crowns 2.0, but with only one crown: mini review
I'd love to leave some feedback for the devs.

+ Simplistic UI with good font choice, reminds me of Amplitude Studios games (Endless Legend / Endless Space) and that's a very smooth, readable, pleasant UI.
+ Gameplay is fun*
+ Graphics is lovely**
+ The promise of multiple biomes is fun
- * there are choices I feel the game makes for me which were very uncomfortable. On the second available map in the demo, the game holds my hand and does not offer to build everything we can technically build later on. I thought unlocking more building choices (spots to build on) is tied to the Castle level but turns out the game simply won't show me that I can build extra walls until later when they become necessary. This is a huge negative for me: don't hold my hand. If I choose to waste money on walls when it's not necessary and will suffer for it, then let me do that, allow me to fail. Failing and learning is part of playing any game.
- ** I had difficulty telling some units apart. The two flying enemies I have no idea how they differ and they look extremely similar (3D model), unit producing buildings look very similar (I had no idea for a couple days that I built archery instead of a barracks, when archery was introduced on the second level) and I have difficulty telling the basic archers apart from the knights.

One huge factor that will keep me away from buying: that the game keeps us away. There is no local coop which cements Kingdom Two Crowns as the undisputable king of this genre for us as a couple, and for singleplayer games I'd rather spend the same money on something else. I hope you'll include local coop and rebalance enemy composition for it to keep the difficulty curve as is instead of local coop making it too easy. If you do this, you got a buyer.

I agree with the main poster so much. "If I choose to waste money on walls when it's not necessary and will suffer for it, then let me do that, allow me to fail." Don't hold our hand! :eh:

The fabulous thing with Kingdom for many many hours in the first game was that you didn't know what was optimal to build and how much to build of each unit/upgrade and in which order. It felt mystical and magical for so long, especially the first game. :dwarven:

But here it is pretty similar, no? You cant just go ahead and build everything without upgrading the Castle or another building. And when you hover building slots, it also shows what other slots get unlocked (even tho the color scheme could be a little more visible).
The big choices, like if u want to eco or build defense and if so where you want to build that are pretty much all available.
And with the positive and negative traits theres even more choice.

I agree there's more strategic choices in this game than in Kingdom, perhaps more depth. That's really good.

But still, I don't like when games hold the player's hand. When it's easy to "read" what the developer intended. I want the excitement of making errors, I love the unpredictable and unknown.

Speaking of needless jabs, who made you the judge / moderator of online talks again? Joining random conversations to tell people how to behave - I believe I was well within polite civilized boundaries, not that I care what you think of it - without adding anything to the actual topic is irony that should poke your eyes from across half the world.

Aight everyone, thanks for your contributions and for the feedback but I'll be locking the thread now before this little argument escalates too much. :p

Have a good day, take care!
