Totend has ruined the fun I was having. Just jarring frustration out of nowhere.

Relatively easy (even with modifiers to get the 25k score) is to go all in on towers and units and just ignore the king.

Take Arcane Towers, Elite Warriors, Commander Mode, Ranged Damage, and Elite Towers. Get the mine on the first day and build a tower right above it so the snails don't go for the mine also get a shrine on a point you'll defend for extra damage/gold. Starting on day 2 start buying units and just keep upgrading income on the side where the last night attack was. The side rotates clockwise (other than when they attack from all sides accompanied with air units) so you can use the top side forge to start upgrading ranged attack right when that side's night attack finishes.

For units gets 1 mace, 1 berserker, 1 hunter, and 1 crossbow. For heroes get 2 healers and the 3 one do whatever (if you aren't playing modifier to limit choices you can get another healer or the golem).

Try not to upgrade towers to lvl 3 until the last night so you can get the bonus from Elite Towers. Upgrade the temple in the last 2 nights so you get the stronger buff for the last night.

I did all those things and everything went much better, 99% of the run was easy but the final phase of the boss still beat me. He has way too much health and those clones are a massive pain

Since you tried that and it didn't work, I have some insight. I sent you a FR so you could just ask questions straight away rather than back and forth here.

#1 thing I'd recommend for the boss is kite. Even on your core the boss will prioritize attacking you over it and will chase you a short distance (as in short distance from you and the boss, I ran them halfway across my base) you can take a couple hits and just run away if you have to and heal up before reagroing the boss
AdamRedXIV Oct 25, 2024 @ 5:56am
I was able to beat him! The thing that helped me to win was buying the alter upgraded that killed all your units at the start of the night but increased their spawn rate
whoDis Oct 25, 2024 @ 10:12am
Congrats on beating him! I went a max damage glass cannon bow build and honestly it absolutely clapped him even with only the two forges. Carry king builds of any kind seem to do pretty well against him to be fair but obvs ranged is so much safer against him.

tried that the guy keeps breaking of and one shotting towers, then kept going after the castle. closest i have gotten is quarter health left over on the bloodmagic challenge. it wouldnt be so bad but he constantly pop shadow clones and keep obliterating everything. kiting doesnt work. it buys like 2 seconds and then he starts wiping something else.

Get the trait for keep health as well so you have more time. Towers in the center should have an upgrade for health. They will last longer then.
Have your range units sit on the balcony of the upper ring, so they won't get knocked out.
Melee can do whatever they can. Best advice would be to focus on either units (upgraded ranged units helps), or your hero damage abilities.

does the strategy above work? yes.

does it make any sense that a game with so many choices and depth of strategies beforehand essentially forces you to use this specific strategy (maybe minor variation is possible) to win the last level? no

There are several working strategies for the last level, including the unit build.

For anyone that's curious about the unit build, here's the edited convo between myself and AdamRedXIV discussing the unit build in detail:

AdamRedXIV:
what upgrade paths should I take for the towers on the last night to better help me beat the last phase of the boss?

Wizard:
Hi there... I'll cover a little bit of everything. Best way to go about it is going full units
so for perks, you'll want to take 'command', the one where units regen 75% faster.....
the one where everytime they die they come back 6% attack boosted...
the +50% running speed for units
and the one for +melee damage... but this one is kind of disgressionary
for your king, since he's already nerfed from command, give him the healing bottles
before the boss nerf, he'd follow you around and kill all your buildings first, now he kinda goes right for your castle, but he still seems to chase when your heal troops..

AdamRedXIV:
so you would say the healing bottles are the best weapon for this lvl?

Wizard:
yes
for upgrades, go all three ranged damage
for the royal, all three auto attack speed
like the other guy said, build ecconomy right away, as the attacks rotate
then with the temple, no matter which and when first two you use, the last stage use the level 3 sacrifice
with the mills, all scarecrows

Wizard:
you want to build up units first, both barracks, beserkers
both archers, fire
all three heros lizards

AdamRedXIV:
hmm that's a combo I have not tried before

Wizard:
this will sound crazy, but don't built a single tower or wall until your economy is complete, all heroes and units are maxed
take the castle upgrade that makes those cheaper when you upgrade the castle
you'll get a lot more built
you know that pressing "1" gathers your whole army?

AdamRedXIV:
yep

Wizard:
there's only 2 rounds that don't spawn all in one place, for all of those that only spawn in one place, plant your army right on the spawn
nothing'll get through
then, build towers and walls like crazy till the boss
the only hard part is it's kinda stressful the first boss stage when he's riding the monster because your towers are kinda weak, all said and done
but, still, you should kill him before your castle takes damage
when he lands, you might have to call your army back
make the spawn in front of the barracks

AdamRedXIV:
for me the boss is easy in his first phase but on his second he kills everything

Wizard:
your beserkers will be respawing at a rate of 375% and there's 32 of them
every time they die, they come back with 6% stronger attack
they jump to attack him right from spawn
just stand nearby and throw healing
you're probably lose all your towers around your castle, but the units mobbing him will be enough
I used this to get the 25k unlock where you have to use mutators up to like 375% to win
then pretty much the archers and lizards will pop the purple guys almost right away
i see you're in game.. good luck

[Thursday 3:31 PM]
AdamRedXIV:
phew yeah thanks because I beat him this time, and I still had at least half of my base left
i think it was that sacrafice thing that helped the most. Kill all units at the start but get an incresed spawn rate

....

The following worked for me (Update 2.06):

Quest E

Perks:
- Gladiator School
- Commander Mode
- Elite Warriors OR Experience Gain
- Pristine Archers
- Pristine Warrior

Mutators:
- No Towers
- No Walls
- Wasp God
- Phoneix God
- God of Afterlife
- Pacifist Pact

Units: Crossbow 2x, or 1x Hunter 1 Crossbow, Berserker, Knights
Heroes: 3x Healer
Uprgades: Range Damage x3, Kings Upgrade do not matter
Focus on Units and shrines in the beginning; forget about your king & towers.
Get 3x Sacrifice in Temple (3rd in Finale)
You should get around 26 - 30k depending on your "performance".

Quest F

Perks:
- Warrior Training
- Glass Canon
- Power Tower
- Ranged Damage
- Lighter Materials

Units: Crossbow, Hunter, Knights, Berserker
Heroes: 2x Healer, 1x Lizard
Upgrades: 3x Weapon Damage (King), 3x Range Damage
Get "Blessing" in Temple 3 Times (3rd Time in Finale)
Crayonmuffins Oct 27, 2024 @ 12:59pm
I just beat it, third try. I was trying to do the challenge where you have to use the wand as well, and took the perk that takes 25% health of enemies when you first attack them. Seemed to help quite a bit. I got level 2 castle and one wall on all sides with level 2 towers on all sides, as well as all shrine activated, as early as possible. And I used a ton of units and a couple heroes. The boss was kind of annoying but I just ignored him and killed all the units and then it's just a matter of kiting him around.

Not very detailed but others seem to have exact advice, lol.
