Is this game being copied?
I am seeing this game called wool at the gates and the similarities are uncanny. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this

Happens all the time when a game has a degree of success. At least it's not as outrageous as some Kingdom Rush clones.

Wait until you find out about the Kingdom series

Nightfall Kingdom on IOS and Android is a complete ripoff. Like almost exactly.

SO I WASNT THE ONLY ONE, i played it before buying thronefall thinking these to are WAY too similar. Honestly as much as i enjoy Thronefall, nighfall has more features that scratchs my simple brain

This game IS a copy.

It's the game kingdom, with the EXACT same mechanics, put onto a 2d map with map design from they are billions.

If you have played those two games, then you have played this one.

OH except they are billions actually lets you control your troops properly.

Saying that this game is a copy of a 2d side scrolling game is a bit harsh, like you could say its inspired by it.

There are ZERO new mechanics in this game.

I happened to get diplomacy is not an option on a deep discount just after buying this game on a whim and its basically just a better version of this game in every way.

I feel like steam users are giving this game like 10+% points because of the art style, ignoring that its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ console rts with GARBAGE controls on PC.

to be fair, this game copied a lot from just genre standards... everyone copies. people usually end up buying all games that are similar if they like one. this is a good thing.

imagine if Factorio never got copied.... we'd have no Satisfactory, no Dyson Sphere Project, no Captain of Industry... the Satisfactory devs who freely admitted they copied Factorio then told everyone on youtube to buy the new factorio expansion :D

the more devs copy eachother, the better games will become.

You need to put something of your own into the game though. Those "knock-off" games (especially on mobile) are most of the time 90% copies 10% minimal changes just to have an excuse. It's not the case of "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", it's the "this does good so I will make a carbon copy of it to make money too".

All the games you gave as an example of Factorio copies are very distinct and don't even look or play exactly the same. All those games share is a concept and that's it. As it should be.

"Oh, of course, Google Code—every copycat's ultimate playbook! Why bother coming up with original ideas when you can just follow the 'gold standard' that everyone's apparently using to churn out clones of games and apps? Clearly, creativity these days is just a matter of tweaking someone else's hard work and slapping your name on it. Bravo, innovation at its finest! 🙄"
