Sorry to read about that. Have you tried turning v-sync on and see if the problem persists?
Keep us updated.
Take care!
Toggled it on and managed to play for 2h or so, no crash as of yet, will let you know if I see it again.
Thank you!
Hi Spirit,
This issue (for most cases, it would seem) solves itself when turning on the vsync option.
Hope that'll do the trick for you!
Cheers
Every time it shutsdown I see events in windows with messages
"The GameInput Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 1000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
The compound file GameInput Service was produced with a newer version of storage."
(coinciding to the ms of the crash)
Reading about this I found a plethora of people complaining and wanting to permanently remove the application as it crashes their PCs too, but Microsoft keeps patching it in :))
Reddit post
It turns out that there might be 2 versions of the service running at the same time.
Check "Services" in windows and look for GamingInput Service
If you see 1 in System32 and one in program files (check path on properties) most likely one is super new and another is 1 year old...
It is fine to see 2 Gaming Services as they bundle a x64 and one x86.
To remove the one that's older you can go ahead and uninstall apps & features, restart computer, go to programfiles x86 if you still see mentions of gameinput microsoft folders delete them, then go to services and set as start automatic the only one remaining
Video on youtube - sorry about quality but this is the only one that I found actually showing the steps.
These issues seem to have started ~8 months ago for some reason and impact both Win10 & 11
Not sure if this is a perma fix or on the next patch things explode again but might help someone.
