Mutators I went with: Faster enemies/Less Gold from enemies/Buildings rebuild slower.
For the first round buy a windmill with the improved plow upgrade and two fields at the top right of the map (don't buy the windmill closest to your castle as it might attract the horses and destroy your income) and then buy 2 houses.
For the second round buy a mineshaft and buy 4 spearmen and use them to clog the narrowest part of the bottom part of the map using the hold position command. When the wave starts kill as much soldiers to the left. Once the round fast dudes start spilling out, focus on killing all of them. After that, finish off the remaining enemy soldiers.
For round three upgrade the castle and get the royal training upgrade. Buy another windmill with improved plow and 2 more fields. Take your 4 spearmen and have them hold position at the narrowest part where the horses are. Solo the top right archers then assist your spearmen once you killed all the archers.
For round 4 buy 4 crossbowmen and bring your 4 spearmen to clog the narrowest part of the top of the map. Upgrade your windmills and buy as many fields as you can. Solo the archers then help your army at the top.
Round 5 buy your third windmill and upgrade all of them to level 2 and buy as many fields as you can. Bring your army to the bottom and focus on taking out the bombs and don't let them kill your army.
Round 6 upgrade your castle and get any upgrade you want. Buy the bottom left windmill and upgrade to level 2, buy all the fields. Buy the wall at the top right to protect your windmill farm. Have the 4 spearmen block the top left of the hill and have the 4 crossbowmen help you kill the archers at the top right.
Round 7 buy the rest of the 2 goldmines, max out your windmills and fields, buy a knight building. Have the 4 spearmen hold off the knights, have the rest of them fight the left side while you solo the explosive balls. Help your army to the left, then help out the spearmen holding off the horses.
Round 8 buy all the houses and upgrade them. Congrats, you maxed out your income. Now feel free to spend stuff on whatever you want. However you need to have at least 180 coins before the final night because the income bonus is what will bring you to 12000+ points. You do not need to invest in walls except the top right and the top left wall. I suggest you buy and upgrade the 3 towers on the bottom left, the 1 on the top left near the 3 houses, the 1 closest to the enemy spawn on the bottom right, and the 2 on the top right where your fields are into ballistas. Also buy a healing tower near the bottom right enemy spawn is so you can put only 4 spearmen into that narrow area and never worry about that spawn again. Also buy all the barricades.
The last post here is outstanding. Easier and faster it should hardly go.
If it's not too much to ask, I'd love a similar guide for the Frostsee challenges
You could say that...I can't even get past the first wave. Am I supposed to run them over with my horse, or kite them?
Edit: I'm doing a modified version, with different perks and mutators, but similar building strategy. On wave 9 now I think. Will see if I get enough score.
Edit2: Dangit, only 11,359. Still, interesting strategy. Usually I'll use towers much sooner.
It's a little of both, what I did was use my special right away to kill the first 2 horses and then slowly back out to the narrowest part of the corridor while stabbing the rest. Keep blocking and tanking the hits until you're low hp and then back out and kite them so that you're not taking damage but still poking them with your spear. When you use your special you can ram into the knight ball to get some extra damage in while you are healing. It's also fine if you let them hit your castle if you're low hp since the bonus for no damage is only 250 points for the first round anyway.
