Game is fun at its core but the way the difficulty is created is awkward. It never really feels very satisfying, especially when all your planning goes to smithereens when enemy units move all over the place except where you'd expect them to go, while meanwhile the complete lack of AI and horrible controls forces you to micromanage units in a way that is nigh impossible.
I'm not saying the map is all that difficult, it's just more of a joke that is the punchline to the entire game.
Not sure which way the devs want to go with this, but I'm not expecting much to change here. Sure, there'll be some balancing adjustments. But nothing that'd overhaul the economy (And thus flow of the game) in such a way that I deem required for this to truly be fun. It'll just remain frustrating at first, a breeze after, and then this stupid fish. Expect other dumb stuff like that in future maps.
I always find going glass cannon is too much stress for me
What worked for me was taking the sword, and the perks Elite Warriors, Big Harbours, and Melee Resistance - admittedly, took the Elite Warriors since i was also using the God of Death mutor (as well as God of Destruction, Snake and Tiger) and the negative of Elite Warriors is just completely ignored with God of Death.
Either way, first round solo with sword, same with second round, while building the harbour and houses in any order (its easier if you go for the northern houses).
The Crossbow round you need the tower, sadly, so build that and another house.
The round afterwards can still be done without any help provided you kite the attack and use the sword special fairly well, but it does take a little practice. (Maybe Warhorse makes this easier but i havnt tried yet)
Next round is a few swordsmen and a ram. For that, archery range with hunters (or flame archers, up to preference, i prefer hunters for the melee). Place them near the entrance on the path towards your tower, with a little help from you the four hunters can easily beat that wave.
Provided you kept spending any leftover gold on houses you start the next round with the flyers with 12 gold - use that to upgrade your base and get the leftmost gold mine, the hunters can deal with the flyers easily if you place them all on the right lake.
Next round is a little tricky with hunters instead of flame archers, but by buildung a few towers on the left side (4 in total definitely wins you that wave, 3 in total if youre confident, might even be doable with 2 and flame archers or tower dmg perks). Hide your archers behind a tower so they arent focussed.
At this point I more or less wing it, focussing eco of course. As soon as possible, upgrade your first harbour and get the second down, the third is a luxury. For the round with flyers from all sides make sure to place a few hunters just south of the left harbour, for the round with the ... idk, balls with horns? ... place a few spearmen near your base at the start of the round, then you wont need walls.
I went full Spearmen and Hunters for soldiers, and whenever applicable placed them in chokepoints or near the enemy spawns (since i took Elite Warriors). You dont need walls until much later, but you can place them early if you want to direct attacks to the other, open side of your base.
For the final wave, i had pretty much all eco upgrades except for the right harbour which i didnt touch (not being able to defend it most rounds and God of Destruction dont make it worthwhile for me, im sure its possible to keep it alive though). Having a few Oil towers helps, i had two, one on the leftmost part of the right wall, the other just north of the second harbour. Upgrade both main base walls and have your archers stand just behind the gates on either side. If your better at ordering troops than me you can definitely move them around between the 'spawns', but thats a little too much micro for me. I placed the spearmen defensively around my base for the same reason - in case i die i wanted them to def against the spiked balls even without my command - they can probably be microed better as well. I only had one balista tower below the harbour on the left (mainly for the battering ram waves), which makes a total of 3 fully upgraded towers. Most of the others were just level 1, but im sure with better resource management (or without the Snake God) getting a few to level 2 can help with holding the waves.
If youre interested ill do it again and write down what i do each wave after the first few as well. I definitely dont play perfectly and got a 13,325 - good luck!
And use a bow. Its an easy but fun life with those.
Stay close to your one and only ballista tower when boss comes.
Its nice to see the ♥♥♥♥ going down. ^^
Btw, very nice game and very addictive :D
Hope see more soon!
It's fine as it is. Keep trying and learn strategies and what to deal with. Anything you can beat within the first few attempts is likely in itself not balanced.
For all the mobs, use a few oil towers around the lake. And have ~3 or so ballistae to deal with siege units and the boss. This map has been beaten by many people with 4+ mutators, so it's definitely doable.
Thanks! Easy peasy win
You can easily avoid taking any hits to your economy with this, ensuring good score and easier boss fight.
Enemy hp and slower repairs, on the other hand, are quite tough and should be avoided outside of quests.
Boss spams only melee units, making melee resistance smith upgrades and/or melee resistance perk obscenely good. Alternatively, you could damage rush it with command mode + tower power and sitting near ballista tower. The faster you damage the boss, the less adds will appear. With a few (2-3, depending on upgrades and perks) ballistae the boss will spawn only 1 wave of mobs per health pip. Setting some units to hold ground next to your castle ensures that it'll survive direct onslaught at 3rd and 0th boss health pip. Or you can use perks like fortified houses to have enough dps on mobs attacking the castle.
In general, you either endure the boss fight (harder), having less dps on the boss but more stuff to protect from adds, or you kill it quickly (easier) by having either great personal dps or enough ballistae.
Also Just Dont Do it mentioned some good ones as well. Idk about enemy speed and extra damage.I think extra speed was the hardest cause you get over whelm quite easy.
