Best perk load out for Map 4 Quest E
Hiya, I was wondering if anyone knew the best perk load out in order to beat map 4 quest e?

I've tried multiple different load outs but have not been able to beat the boss, the closest I got was the final health bar using architects council, melee resistance and arcane towers and with 2 black smith upgrades into melee resistance.

I used Royal Mint and Castle Fortifications for early game pressure and pushing into economy, and Glass Canon + bow for hero to burst initial waves + burst boss late game.

Wave 1 = Castle + 2 houses

Wave 2 = Harbor + ranged attackers with aoe, gather them all and position them widely at bottom

Wave 3 = Either upgrade castle or build 1 tower + 2 houses on the left, you can outrange the archers and kill them quite easily, just make sure you don't die, if you do the run is kinda doomed and might need a reset.

From here your primary focus is building gold mine AND defending it, building the harbor to the left, upgrading the first harbor and building a LOT of troops so there's no way your defenses or economy fall.

I used shielded melees and aoe archers only, aoe melees do barely no damage and can't tank enough and aoe archers are very required to build a healthy defense and economy without losing too much units.

Melee resistance 2 + aoe towers at specific positions will win you the game

At boss just press ALT to focus on him and use special skill as much as possible

You can probably nail a win in 2-3 tries good luck!

i built 6 ballista towers that nuked boss

for units i hunters + mace guys

for economy i rushed gold mine and 3 harbors

for perks i used: tower dmg. wall health, architect

didnt research anything

The tower/wall strength is crucial imo. And double hp for units. Then extra dmg on towers.

Generally the Thronefall strategy is to delay any unnecessary fixed defences early, plow coins into the economy early which snowballs.

I pick the Walls/towers get 1 coin cheaper each day. Then delay the upgrades as much as possible, very valuable.

Ah, I just finished that one. If I recall correctly, I went fully offensive with the glass cannon, arcane towers and power tower perks (and bow weapon). My idea was that the faster I could kill everything (early game mostly by myself and occasionally one tower boosted by arcane towers and power tower), the fewer defensive buildings I needed and the more coins I could put into a snowballing economy. It may take a couple of tries to see how far you can push it that way.

I broadly followed the same approach as Saka --- in particular the use of troops to shield buildings. Fire archers were great. A couple of small differences: I used flailers instead of swordsmen (no deep reason); I only got one blacksmith upgrade, which I put into ranged damage; I used ballista towers rather than whatever type deals AoE damage. I never figured out how to focus one particular enemy, but the ballista towers focus on the boss by default.

Good luck! :)

Edit: my castle upgrades were, if I recall correctly: more damage, then cheaper wall and tower upgrades.

I did it with Mint, Castle Fortification, and Blueprints. I used Hunters, Flails, and Spearmen.

After reading the thread, maybe I need to give fire archers a chance.

Thank you all for the advice I finally managed to beat it as a result

too sad I find no good way to protect the 3rd fishing spot, air is hard to target in the area + many "bugged" ways to get them to deal enough damage on it. I see that I might have used underpowered units or buffs, have to try again, just not enough money for the last wave and since there is no inner wall. but yeah those bottom towers can be nice, and if having a heavy hitting tower might help on damaging the boss.

I've been trying this challenge over the past 24 hours trying some different things, and I can get to the boss like 80% of the time. Best I've done is knock it down to its last 2 health bars before the stupid number of blobs it keeps burping out finally destroys my castle.

I've failed so many times that I know the key to beating the boss is destroying its health bars as fast as possible and ballista are the best way to do that, but I'm not able to build enough or put them in the right places so they don't get rolfed to death by the blobs

the other problem is knowing how to manage my troops to make them useful. I've discovered they're not that great against the boss, and are more useful for controlling the blob groups. I don't see how anyone wouldn't suggest fire arrows, their area of effect attacks are so good at messing up groups of blobs.

edit: and I believe people said they beat this using glass cannon, but man, I figure you've got to be freakisly good because I keep getting 1 shotted (usu by a crossbow) and frequently get murdered immediately once I revive.

I know you're talking about the harbor on the right since that's the only one that keeps getting destroyed for me. I've found the best way to defend it from flying enemies and blob gangs is to move archers next to it. Sometimes you have to use the stay command so they don't wander off. Towers just don't do enough damage fast enough. But there's 2 later waves where I just can't stop it from being destroyed no matter what I try.

Just FYI i saw a walkthrough video from a guy who literally didn't manage how to order units at all!
All damn 4 maps he didn't use that feature. So all his units were just chilling near their barracs while he was scampering back and forth between the enemy spawn spots. That was kinda ridiculous to see (especially on map 3) yet effective enough to beat the game.

always die on the last wave due to so many of those straight to castle blobs attack it. was able to kill the boss but not enough HP left for the blobs and that was a good round.

I see that you sort of need to use the glass cannon, but mostly for the ranged hero. else you get killed by everything and ranged hero + range? shoots further than the archer enemy.
that and extra castle HP sort of helps it stay alive and the reduce cost for walls + tower upgrade from the castle. just hard to know when to fully upgrade the walls unless one is doing it a lot. else these upgrades are more or less a must on those challenges?

I finally did this with the perks:
Castle fortifications - you might be able to get away with picking something else, but on the last wave if the boss decides to spawn units inside your walls a couple of times they can rush down your castle before you can do anything about it, I pick this for safety so I don't get nuked in the boss phase.
Glass cannon - I picked the bow for this one, you'll see why later, so being fragile doesn't hurt too much and you REALLY need the damage output (this will actually come into play a lot during the boss battle).
Big harbours - just for doubling down really hard on early game economy, build all 3 harbours ASAP and upgrade them, along with the gold mine and several houses this gives you all the gold you need

My basic strategy was:
Wave 1 build the castle and first harbour
Wave 2 build 2 houses
Wave 3 upgrade castle and get assassin's training
Wave 4 archery range (fire archers) and second harbour - this is the first wave you actually need archers to deal with the 45 units that spawn
Wave 5 third harbour and two more houses
Wave 6 upgrade 2 harbours (you should have 15-16 gold to do this) the next wave will be 9 flying units on the right side harbour, and you one shot them with your bow so it's trivial to deal with

You now have a REALLY strong economy going into wave 7, this is where you start building barracks (I went with flails), or a second archery range (more fire archers), and a blacksmith (I went with 1 ranged damage and 1 melee damage, or 2 melee defence upgrades) and don't forget the last harbour upgrade. For my last castle upgrade I went with the one that makes towers cheaper by 1 gold per turn then built as many towers as I could ASAP just so I could upgrade them cheaper - this is basically an economy upgrade. The order in which you do all of this depends on how confident you feel with all the waves, prioritise with using your units as human shields to keep the towers alive since they take an extra turn to rebuild, and try not to get hit, most things will one shot you and you have a 20 second respawn which is brutal.

By the boss fight you want to have 4-5 towers with the boiling oil upgrade and the rest level 2, these absolutely melt the waves of enemies that the boss spawns. I like to give the boiling oil upgrade to the tower just above the harbour on the west side of the lake, the tower just outside the wall to the south of the gold mine, the tower about half way down the east side of the lake (these 3 are essential and give the most value), as backups if you have enough gold you can upgrade the two towers just inside your walls either side of the harbour on the north side of the lake, and if you're really swimming in gold then the northernmost tower in the little circular walled area to the south, these will have the most opportunity to use the boil oil. Along with the fire archers and flails all doing AOE damage (make sure your barracks and archery ranges are fully upgraded), they can easily deal with the spawns without any intervention from you.

The bow + assassin's training is for you to solo the boss with, lock onto the boss with your bow and stand next to it in a position where the spawns won't attack you and spam your active ability. The point of assassin's training is to use the active ability of your weapon right as it comes off cooldown, this gives it reduced cooldown. As you have glass cannon and have the +100% damage boost from assassin's training you will do big chunks of damage with this ability. As you take additional health bars off the boss you'll find you get further reduced cooldown on your active ability (it seems to work as a % of the boss's OVERALL HP, not the the HP of its current health bar, so the last few bars of HP you'll get massively reduced cooldown), combined with the cooldown reduction from assassin's training the last 2-3 bars of health the boss has you can use the ability almost every second, and it won't take you more than a few seconds to get through an entire health bar of the boss. This speeds up the fight so much and the last few waves are super easy for your remaining units and towers to deal with. In between each HP bar as the boss moves around the lake you can snipe 3-4 units from the spawns to help deal with them, but I found I didn't really need to. Any units that do make it to the castle will be mostly dealt with by the castle itself since it's fortified, but you can help too if you think you need to.

So basically really focus on early game economy, and use your glass cannon bow to skip needing early game units/towers. Then your bow + assassin's training focuses on the boss, while your AOE units and towers deal with the spawns.
DUCK Aug 6, 2023 @ 6:12pm
too bad about the coin reduction on towers only count after building them, but could be OP if maybe that was the case.
Crueler Aug 6, 2023 @ 8:14pm
I went with Arcane Towers, Castle Blueprints and Power Tower as the Heavy Sword character.
Castle upgrades I chose 50% more damage to targeted enemy and Cheaper walls/towers.

Build the first shipyard and spam income. (Always get more when possible, upgrade)
Solo every wave up until the first Archer wave and build a tower to kill the archers.
One tower on the right should handle the first flying enemies.
On the wall breaker round, upgrade your castle and get the tower closest to the castle.
Get all the towers inside the main base walls that you don't have yet for the big flying round.
Get Castle level 3 and Build the walls, upgrade them and your towers as needed.

Last few rounds, build a bunch of Hunters and also build Fire Towers.
You will need 1 Fire Tower Up left of the shipyard, and 2 bottom right of it on the wall.
Make your hunters hold position at your castle on the last wave to protect it from monsters.
You can throw in a few other units too for padding if you'd like.

The last round is easy. The boss slowly kills himself spawning things. The fire towers burns everything. Just pull enemies here and there to it and they die quick. Your tower perk causes fire at all times when you are near it. Just keep clearing both sides until the mid spawns come, and your hunters should drop his life bar and kill the minions.

You don't even have to leave the base, it's pretty free as long as you have the fire towers at decent HP.

Pretty sure I did this same build for the high score, just added another Mutator I could handle.

I actually got a guide in my thread called Ice Map. I gave a good detail on it. It should really help out. but if your going for high score then idk.

But the guide I gave will help you out on all quests. But like I said if your trying to get like 14k or above then I don't have that type of guide. This guide should get you 13k points at most.

I just finish that mission, I had a build that give you max Eco at Day 8.

Sword as Weapon, for perk I pick Architecture (Early building choice), Elite Warrior (Double Hp for all Unit) and Glass Cannon (+Damage).

DAY 1 : Castle, Harbour
NIGHT 1 : Fight with your King, your range is farther so don't tank, kite them.

DAY 2 : Gold Mine (Thank to Architecture)
NIGHT 2 : Fight with your King.

DAY 3 : Barrack(Knight, can build thank to Architecture), 2 Harbour (Thank to Architecture)
NIGHT 3 : Fight with Knight, these crossbow one shot your King.
(Tips: You can wait the crossbow attack, then do a quick hit and run, that way the crossbow will aggro on your king and ignore the unit)

DAY 4 : 5 House
NIGHT 4 : Glass Cannon Sword wreck these slime, keep try to keep your distance.

DAY 5 : Upgrade Castle (Pick Royal Training), Rest of your Gold into House.
NIGHT 5 : Your King can solo that wooden thing before it can reach anything, put knight near the spawn point to block that thing a bit.

DAY 6 : Range Barrack (Hunter), Upgrade all 3 Harbour.
NIGHT 6 : 4 Hunter can take care of this flying wave.

DAY 7 : Barrack (Flail) and Range Barrack (Fire Arrow), I build two tower, one near the top and one near the left Harbour. Rest of the gold into House.
NIGHT 7 : Gather all your unit at the top spawn. After they finish the enemies you should be able to drag them down before the bottom wave reach Gold Mine.

DAY 8 : You should be able to upgrade the rest of your House and Castle with a lot of remaining gold, now you have FULL ECONOMY.

I pick the +150% hp and reflect for final Castle Upgrade (This allow my King to survine and deal a lot of damage to crossbow, as well as baiting flying unit as those unit will attack the King, get reflect, then get aggro by King )

For the Research I just pick double Melee Resist.
