I mostly ignored the blacksmith, got one level, not sure if I bothered with another one or it was already too late.
For eco I made a lot of houses and I had the auto-upgrade from castle level up. I made 2 harbours in the middle lake. Don't bother making the one on the right, it's going to be destroyed too many times.
Also make sure to get the mine as early as possible, if you can protect it.
Then during the final wave I placed 1/3 of my units on the left and 2/3 on the right, where I was myself as well. And then it was jumping around, taking the army that was with me through the southern bank to the other side of the lake for the next spawn, then back, and so on, trying to deal as much damage myself as possible.
Harbour on the right if you built the wall , ground ennemies will attack the wall first . On the left you have a gold mine , can be good to use.
For units you want flailers as melee , For ranged i went crossbow on the left and archers on the right (help with not getting harbor destroyed. Melee upgrade have priority over ranged
For tower i built moslty everything but made 6T3 , opti would have been 8 . used the bottom left as tank for outpost to clean the wave before last . After that you would want the two towers on the line between lake -harbour to be oil, and also the two top one of outpost , the top one of left camp and the left one of top harbour .
Boss will summons lots of adds but in range of tower , you can spawnkill most of the mobs with the oil tower .
For upgrade i played sword with gold from castle and better castle (Castle level 3 with that upgrade become a long rang minigun.
Previous comment did move his troop everywhere , i did nothing but watch the boss getting wrecked :)
Anyway, the increase in difficulty seems massive, I was able to do the 3rd map with 2 and 3 mutators easily but I'm unable to complete a single objective for the 4th map.
Looks like the meaning of the map right now is to find the appropiate perks and way to play making it possible to win each objective of the map. GL & HF guys!
It won't be able to spawn many enemies because it dies so fast.
That's the strat I used too. Worked for me.
I used the perks for the gold from castle, better castle and the one that let you build things as if you have a higher tier castle. Build 2 houses first night, build mine second night and then rushed the harbors, after that I tryed to balance building the rest of the economy with defenses. Died in the very last wave... I think something weird happened because I was killing the boss too fast and initiating each wave before killing all the mobs, so he started leaving the waves of mobs in the middle of the base, I think I'll need to balance Ballista and AoE towers.
I also used the better tower perk allows a ballista tower on the left side of the map, in the enclave where you build your left harbor, to fire on the boss while he's on the right side of the map. You might find that to be useful if you're having trouble keeping all the small fry cleared out, because it cuts down on the amount of ballista towers you need verses the other towers. Though of course more ballista towers would do the job faster but one there is in a pretty nice defended spot. It's also well placed to pick off battering rams and the enemy heavy infantry depending on when you get it up.
This is normal. He has 10 health bars, and the way the boss works is he burns his own health in order to spawn mobs. He will kill himself if you leave him alone, but each health bar that drops, he will move location. iirc at 40% & 10% health remaining he always goes to the middle. You'll have to deal with him there twice. :)
On my last run I had 6 or 7 ballista towers. I was wiping out each health bar so fast, he only had time for one spawn per bar. However, the perks I used were : Power Tower, Arcane Tower & Commander Mode.
It also has the benefit of allow you to build walls without having to max out the castle, which can be useful for some waves.
Here's my build:
Day 0 - Central fishing harbor.
Day 1 - Gold mine
Day 2 - The other two harbors and a tower top left side to help deal with the archers.
From there, it's buying whatever I think I'll need to clear the wave, while being as greedy as possible buying / upgrading houses.
Once the harbors have 3/4 boats, I'll upgrade the town hall and upgrade the harbors.
The end result is a strong economy with more then enough gold to upgrade whatever defenses I want.
